Yep, it's true. I sware there are nut heads doing nothing but thinking of ways to find the silver bullet that will solve all crimes and be the countries hero.

A Chicago politican wants to embed global positioning system chips all in new guns, and retrofitted on existing firearms, so they could be located if they go missing or stolen or for what ever reason. Yea, that is a really good idea if you ask me.

He states it would be like OnStar if your car is stolen. Now that I think of it maybe this isn't such a bad idea after all....I want one in my TV remote control.:)

Chicago huh...don't they have a lot of stolen cars there too?

I guess they are unaware that thieves know how to locate and remove Lojack and other such devices before they can be tracked, but gun thieves would never think to do that....

DRAT !!!

I've doomed the entire idea by saying it out loud on the Internet and giving away that well kept secret. :(

Just tape your GPS tracked phone to the remote and it will be easy to locate and protect.

Great idea, why didn't I think of that. I might get some strange looks in public though, they will think I'm calling on my remote. Could make it seem as though I'm nuts which will allow the gov to take all my guns. Maybe not such a good idea after all but thanks for the thought. Keep thinking.

Things that make you say "hmmmmm". Well now, lemme see here.... Howz about a GPS-Gun-Camera-Phone-TV Remote-TP Dispenser? I'd better hurry up and register that, or something. Remember, you heard it here first. -S2

I'd put a GPS on my AR rail (right next to the Pez dispenser) if they hadn't declared the rail an "evil feature".

Onstar started out as an innocent little app. Now they can use it for all sorts of things and that makes me nervous. I see Big Brother making the technology mandatory so they can keep an eye on us, collect revenue as necessary, etc etc etc...

I am not in favor of this.

I suppose the Chicago alderman who proposed this expects the gang bangers to voluntarily bring in their guns to have them chipped.

Also, I suppose he expects me to pay to have my 1874 US marked Colt SAA modified to have a chip and then 5 years later when the battery dies i get to pay again.

Maybe they should have done this with Operation Fast and Furious.

I thought I read that a similar but smaller Fed operation previous to F&F did use GPS chips implanted in firearms.
Purposely let loose accross the border, the guns were supposed to be tracked like a computer game and lead L/E right to the cartels front door.

Didn't happen of course,,but that's not to say politicians aren't happy to try the stunt again. Gotta be a vote getter..and isn't what all these fixes are about.

Maybe they'll bring back the fired case-ballistic fingerprinting scheme again. That never solved a crime in 11yrs in NY and a few other states ,,,but sounds techy.

..and don't forget 'tags' in the powder to allow the CSI investigator types to trace where the ammo was sold and now who bought it so the crime is solved in the obligatory 1 hr,,minus advertisements.

And, tape your gun to both -- you can watch TV, talk and shoot at the same time -- however, if your point your triple device at the TV, make sure you hit the channel or volume button and not the trigger:eek:

"Bang" --- then silence.

"Honey, did you shoot the TV again???"

What they don't quite get is that when you push law abiding citizens too far they will all of a sudden become "criminals" and they will have NO records on what's out there - just saying!
