Every once in a while, I stumble onto a grail gun at an affordable price. I buy it and shoot it and swear that I'm never going to sell it because I've always wanted one just like it. Then a few months later, it's just another gun, maybe a little peculiar in terms of some detail or other, and my five-inch Model 629 Classic does the same job as well or better.

Any one else have this happen?

I just keep adding to the pile, and it is starting to get deep. Glad it isn't BS or I would need hip Boots

Once you buy a "Grail Gun", you'll be looking for the next one. A never ending viscous cycle.

Oh yeah. My search for my latest "grail gun" keeps me feeling like a pinball. I've got more grail guns that I want than I will ever be able to own. I guess that is part of the fun of it.

Mine right now is a 7.5" (not the 6" and not the 8 3/8") 629 with an unfluted cylinder.
There's one on GunBroker that I've bid on three times but have never met the minimum and I can't quite afford their $1,000 Buy It Now price.
I have a 6" that my son talked me out of last year for deer season and he killed a deer with it and I hate to ask for it back.
I have a Performance Center Light Hunter but something about it just doesn't "feel" right or doesn't balance for me or something. I just "know" that if I could get this gun on GunBroker, it would be the last gun I'd ever need... until the next gun that'll be the last gun I ever need.

The problem is that "Grail Guns" are constantly changing. Once you get one, you decide that something else is a grail gun.
The great thing about having multiple grail guns is re-discovering what was your grail gun a few years back in your safe, and loving it all over again
