My granddaughter is graduating from New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell tomorrow as valedictorian. She will finish Army advanced basic training at Fort Knox this summer and will then receive her commission as a 2LT. Then she is off to Syracuse University. Surprised this showed up in a Big Army publication. The unusual thing is she made her own decision entirely that she wanted an Army career. No one talked her into it. I don't believe she will be doing any protesting.

Congratulations!
NMMI is a different kind of school.
It's a State operated Military High School and Junior College.
It's in Roswell and the buildings are modeled after West Point.
Noted Alumni include Conrad Hilton, Owen Wilson, Sam Donaldson and Roger Stabach.

I lived in Roswell ..for a short time....the Ops post...brings back the memory....of early morning cadence...floating down the hill from NMMI.....

She started out wanting to be a ballet dancer and spent nearly two years attending the Royal Dutch Ballet Academy in Amsterdam. She performed all over Europe, including Russia. One of her dance partners dropped her and injured her foot, ending her ballerina aspirations. A big change for her to go Army.
