Grandson of Evaluators Ltd.

There sure are a lot of Leathernecks on this forum! Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I’m looking forward to getting some knowledge from the members of this group. When I say “I’m not a pistol guy”, I mean it. I carry one only because I haven’t figured out a way to concealed carry a rifle, but I enjoy the history of all weapons.

Thanks again,
George

Welcome from Arkansas. You are going to enjoy the information, history,
and pictures of pistols on this forum. I have tried just about all of the forums out there and this one is the best.

Welcome.

I bought many guns from Evaluators Ltd and remember Mrs. Van Orden very well. I never met the general but I did meet his son long ago. A very nice memory.

Welcome to the forum, George. Your grandparents were legendary, and well known here either in person or through writings. Evaluators had a sterling reputation as a good firm to deal with. Flora is credited for coming up with the name "Highway Patrolman" for the .357 N-frame that later became the S&W Model 28. You have good blood!

Welcome aboard from ol' Wyo, Marine!

Your grandparents hold a special place in my heart, and in my safe.

I have the .38 Chiefs Special S&W sent to your grandmother March 7, 1951. It's serial number 72. It was accompanied by an 8"x10" b&w photo of your grandparents standing in front of the Evaluators Limited sign.

I'd love to know where .38 Chiefs Special # 70 is. S&W sent it to your grandpa on March 1, 1951.
