Grandson's Birthday

Today is my grandson's 13th birthday. He was my birthday present 13 years ago. Best present ever. I gave him my Marlin 39A that I got when I was 10 in 1952 (a "J" serial number).

Those are memories that stay with you for life. I remember the day my father gave me my first rifle like it was yesterday. Wish I had the oppurinty to share with my grandfather. He passed before I was old enough.

Handsome kid and a fine old rifle. My first 39A, which I foolishly traded away, was bought in about 1960 and had the old fatter forestock. I bought the one I have how in 1969, and it has the slimmer fore-end. Looks nice, but I loved the earlier one.

If your grandson had grinned any wider his head from the upper lip north would have fallen off.

He'll pass that rifle on to one of his kids.
