Gratuitous Picture Thread

Pottery Barn???

Photobucket sucks and has played havoc with my photo files!

Gorgeous! 44 2nd Model w/ Micro click sights?

If you have a google account (and who doesn't), it's another free alternative to Photobucket. Just upload to google photos and link 'em to the forum. Not quite as easy as PB, but once I figured it out, I wondered why it took me so long to think of it....

Earlier this year Photobucket lost all links to over a thousand of my stored photos, which is why several years' worth of my posts now have "missing image" placeholders. I'm done with PB, and Google photos is one of the replacement options I am exploring. I have also tested this forum's own image hosting. Ordinarily that means images will appear only as thumbnails at the end of your post, but if you copy the image address and paste it into the body of your post surrounded by
tags, you can get larger photos to appear in the body of your post. The thumbnails at the end of the post will still be there.

Members of the S&WCA and contributors to the forum have album privileges. You can create multiple albums here, upload your pictures to them, and paste their URL into your posts. It even inserts the BB code image IMG tags for you. You are not limited to 5 per post and you won't have thumbnails or duplicate images in your posts. Photobucket or other hosting sites that periodically erase stored photos will not be a problem and your pictures will be in your posts as long as the forum maintains them. The only disadvantage is you can only post the pictures on this forum. If you are a member of another forum, you will have to do something similar there to post the same pictures. You cannot link from another site to them in your album here.

I prefer not to use Google. I know they track your searches so I now use Duckduckgo.com (no tracking) for that. Not sure about their image hosting so I'm looking for suggestions other than Google, PB & SWCA for photo hosting. Anyone have some suggestions?

2nd Model sent back to the mothership twice in the 60's for micro rear sight install and extra tall red insert front sight as well as a refinish, stocks courtesy of John Culinga...fine line diamond center Coke profile, Coco Bolo.
I'm using Imageshack, they have quite alot to offer and once I figured everything out I'm real happy with it.

I transferred every image I had on Photobucket to Imdur (free), seems to work fine but it takes some getting used to, especially the log-in procedure. It is a REAL pain - Captcha should be re-named Killya

I just got the "notice" today that my membership in photobucket has expired. It won't be renewed, so I expect several hundred photo's I have posted over the past few years will have the dreaded no image, but I'm not about to try and go back and re-post all the former images to old posts. I have opened up with Postimage.org, and so far is working well (all free). Once you figure it out is very easy to upload and to post, was a short learning curve .

D, I hear you, especially the Killya. I'll continue my search...perhaps one of the gurus on the MAC forum I visit will yield some options (sites).

Shine them on. I moved all the photos I had there on to my hard drive for now.

I was having trouble understanding why people were moaning about loosing all their pictures, until I saw where everything you ever posted to PB went away...it isn't like personally loosing pictures, only those that you posted using PB, unless you downloaded off a camera or something and had the habit of clearing it out ever now and then. I never lost anything personally because everything I downloaded to PB came off my picture file but I do understand some of you guys with the beautiful posts being axed if you don't ransom up...Bass-turds
