I wanted to give a high-five and shout-out to a multi-generational business that really came through for me yesterday. The business is Richards Maple Products in Chardon, Ohio. I have been a customer of theirs for many years for their maple candy (in my pre-diabetic days) and real 100% maple syrup.

In my attempt to be more modern and computer savvy, yesterday I put in an internet order for their products to be sent to my sister and brother-in-law in Michigan, with my address as the billing address. But true to my Luddite heritage, after I pushed the button to process the order, I saw that it was made out for the goodies to be sent to me instead of my sister and brother-in-law. So first thing yesterday morning I called the company, a REAL PERSON answered the phone, and the nice lady listened to my tale of woe and immediately stopped the order being sent to me and took the information for the correct destination for my order. I had hardly hung up the phone when I checked my emails and found the cancellation and correction. She was very pleased to hear that I had a gallon jug of their maple syrup in my refrigerator.

It's good to see service like this.

Customer service is indeed rare these days. Whenever I do get good service I ask for a supervisor to tell them about their good employee and commend the company.

At my age more and more of my interaction has been with the local hospital and the Doctor's office connected to it. Not the people I want to deal with but for the last couple of years the service and the people who run the service could not be any better. The treat me as a real person and not a number and seem to go out of their way to make sure I have the best care they can.

That IS a rare interaction you had; not necessarily the courtesy but not having to go through their phone option list. That's when I know "my call is NOT that important to you." "Allo? My name is, uh, Mike, and I feel so sorry for you had the wait. So, how can my assistance be to you, Meester Maltman?"
I bought a pocket carry holster from Stoner Holsters and had excellent customer service. I believe it was Mrs. Stoner. It was e-mails, not a phone call, but I didn't have to wait at all for an answer. And since they were out by Cincinnati I (choke) wished her Bengals well in the play-offs.
