It is hard to believe, but Spring has apparently come to Wisconsin.
This was a chance to function-test some guns. I just got back
a M431 that had the hammer bobbed. Had to make sure that
hammer strike wasn't impaired by the weight loss.
An old Remington M11 from 1925 or so, and a Mossberg 500.
The M500 was new-to-me, so both needed to be fired with
some 12 ga. ammo. For some reason, I had the impression
that the ammo given to me was shorter than 2-3/4", and
wimpy as well. Surprise! That stuff had some kick, in both
guns. Looking at the box and shells, turns out they're buck and ball
at 1400 fps. And I was worried that it wouldn't cycle the M11!
Still, it was so nice out that I had to share. The M500 isn't
too pretty, but I'll get a pic sooner or later.
