I was visiting a friend for a long weekend and we had the opportunity to go shooting at a local facility. (Friend is LEO). FINALLY had the chance to sight in my AR15 and we also hit the pistol range. Got to shoot steel plates and bowling pins for the first time (was much fun and I feel I am now hooked). What was very enjoyable is the variety of pistols we had with us on the range. I got the chance to shoot his Glock 40 (not sure of model), an XDM 45, and the new XDMs tiny 45 cal. I had my old 4013 single stack with me from the '80s.
I say old 4013 because it outshoot all the new plastics. This is a beat up pistol that has been carried, i bought it used and had to track the serial to get the age but it shoots better than I am able to. A challenge was presented to hit one of the steels at about 65 yards. The 4013 did it on the second shoot.
The other pistols where/are very nice. I really liked the trigger on the Glock and XDM, but they just dont seem as comfortable to me. I am sure I could get used to them, but I dont need to right now. I was VERY impressed with the little XDMs 45. I would not be upset to have one of them. Shot well, accurate, even ran steel plates which was fun with such a little guy. Trigger was nice and not a great deal of kick. Def. something to consider in the future.
I have a M&P 40 FS waiting for me at the local gun shop. Cant wait to put my plastic against the other guys. I am fortunate to have such friends, was a great time.
