I just received some "pulled" 180 gr FMJ bullets in .40 S&W cal. I also have more Green Dot powder than anything else in my limited supply. Has anybody used GD with a 180 gr bullet in 40 cal?

Thanks

If you don't mind the soot, go ahead. It shoots fine, especially near max.
I quit it and prefer half a dozen other powders to it in .40.

There is zero wrong with GD, the closer you get to max, it will clean out. Use it

GD is a very versatile powder. I use it for both 9mm and .45 ACP with good results, along with .45 Colt and .44 Special. I do not reload .40 S&W, so have never tried it - but no reason it couldn't be used. It can be smoky in lighter loads. I remember that some SASS Cowboy Action shooters liked to use Green Dot in their lighter loads principally because it was smoky.

no 40 but I use a lot of it in my J frame 38 snub nose with 125 to 158gr lead for target and factory loads and.......

in my 357 magnum I have used it with a heavy 158 lead swc with target loads and then dropped almost a full load of powder to get 1281 fps out of my 6" 686 revolver.

So this powder will work in the large volume cases. Being a faster burning powder than Unique, I never noticed unburned flakes or a messy pistol or revolver with this powder.

Yes, I use it in my pistols, too......
Have fun.
