Long time firearm owner, first time S&W owner and new to the board. Until last week I thought the only revolvers were made by Ruger (just kidding) and had never even shot a S&W revolver. I now own 2 of them and still won't be shooting them.

I stumbled on 2, 1972 (supposedly), 28-2 Highway Patrolman revolvers with 4" barrels... NEW, un-fired, still in the original box with manual, cleaning kits and even the warranty cards. If these 48 year old pieces are truly unshot, I am in a quandary. I don't like to own guns I don't shoot but in turn do not want to screw these up by shooting them.

I am considering selling these (at least one) to a collector and using the proceeds to buy one I will actually shoot. I would like the advice of people that actually know S&W so I can possibly preserve a couple of pieces of history... or is being an unfired revolver a detriment because it hasn't been tested?

I didn't start off here thinking I was going to do anything but say hello. If this is in the wrong place please direct me where to ask my above question. Thanks a million in advance for your help.

Jim

Welcome aboard from coastal North Carolina.

Coastal NC...? I can trace my grandmothers family landing in Duplin County (northwest of Wilmington). They are the recent immigrants in my family, they didn't arrive until 1685...lol

Wilmington is my end game for retirement. Nice place at least the last time I was there. Thank you for your service to our Constitutional Republic

Wow 2 CW3s posting in the same thread!

...and the son of a retired CW2 with a tour of Korea and 2 of Vietnam. He has been retired 2.5 times longer than the 21 years he served. Thank you to all for your service to our Constitutional Republic
