Hi everybody,

my name is Thomas and today I made a big mistake. I bought myself this beautiful 66-5 and won't be able to shoot it until next week

Already asked S&W Support for manufacturing data and they told me it's from '99. I got it in a box that's been labeled to be originally for a 686, at least the manual seems to be the original one. As far as I understand the Uncle Mikes Grips seems to be the one it's been delivered with.

About myself: Originally I'm from Germany where I did the back then mandatory 9 months in the Bundeswehr and had my first experiences with real guns. After studies I moved to Switzerland and now, several years later, I started shooting pistols and now decided I want a revolver as well. I'd also love to get a rifle, but the missus isn't too keen about my hobby anyways (although she's a better shot than me with the sports pistol) ;-)

Welcome from Mississippi, USA! I've only been to Switzerland a couple of times. I lived in Germany while on active duty with United States Air Force. You have a nice revolver; wish I had a Model 66.

Welcome from Baton Rouge , Louisiana !
Very nice model 66-5 , I'm sure you will enjoy it .
I'm a revolver person myself ... just enjoy shooting them more than semi-autos .
Be careful ... Revolvers can become Habit Forming !

Welcome from Illinois.
I think women feel this - duty - if you want to call it that, to act like our hobby is somehow childish and irresponsible. But once you get them out there they often turn into the reincarnation of Annie Oakly.
I remember taking my wife out and she had a gas, busting hand-tossed clay pigeons with my 410.

Greetings from Maryland, Thomas, and welcome to the Forum.

I was last in Switzerland two years ago. I spent some time in Grindelwald...how beautiful!

Congratulations on your new revolver...I'm sure you'll love it! :)
