So day 2 with my new rifle and day one on this forum. I'll do a lot of reading before I ask any questions.

The gun is bone stock and I've purchased 2 Magpul 20-round magazines.

My immediate plans are adding a scope and maybe a bipod.

I've done some snooping around and it lookes like the scope I'll go with is the Nikon P-308 4-12x40.

No thoughts on what bipod but I assume I'll have to swap out the forearm so I have a lower rail.

Anywho...I look forward to reading a lot about this new gun.

Congratulations!!

Enjoy it the way it is before you decide to dump a lot of money on aftermarket stuff.

It's easy to get hung up on modifying your gun.

I think most of that stuff is like a chain steering wheel on a 55 Chevy : cool but cosmetic. Doesn't make it functionally better.

Spend your money on range time and ammo for a few months.

Yeah I'll be going to the range in a month or so. As for ammo, I've got 2 other rifles chambered for .308 so ammo is already accounted for :-)

I did buy a 12" hardened steel 'plate' to shoot at so I'm anxiously awaiting spring so I can go camping and do some shooting.

Sounds like you are on the right track . It is a fine rifle . As far as a bipod , you need not replace the forearm unless you want to . I picked up a sling stud (see Pic) and mounted on the stock forearm. Works like a champ. :D

I have the M-308 scope from Nikon and like it a lot. I have no experience on the P-Series but if it is close to mine, you will like it.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the the new rifle. Let me echo the comment about getting to know your rifle before going and spending $ on accessories. If you like the stock forearm, you can usually add a Magpul rail section to it. It's worked well for me. Check out the link for Amazon listings [ame="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=magpul+rail+section"]Amazon.com: magpul rail section@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/412L2q5JTtL.@@AMEPARAM@@412L2q5JTtL[/ame]

Thanks for the info all. The P-308 seems to be a bit less powerful than the M-308 but still offers the same cool features I think.

I'll look into that Magpul rail and the front stud rail. Do I have to drill the forearm to attach them?

As far as drilling the forearm , no I did not need to, the stud lines up with the stock holes. :D

New owner also

My wife bought me one for Christmas(she is a keeper). I have a Leupold Mark AR Mod-1 3-9x40 Mil dot that I like very well. The first mod I am going to do is put a CMC trigger in it. All else is good so far.
