Hello all, looking for a couple 19 p&r snubs blue/nickel. I like the way the grip adapters look on these. My question is, do these mark up/ scratch the frame when mounted and used? I believe the BK are a type of plastic but the Tyler’s are a form of metal aluminum/ bronze and some powder coated. Is there anything that protects the contact points from frame to the adapter? Plenty of pics with them wearing adapters but none once removed. Just planning ahead. Thanks

The old Tylers were I think brass, and they marked up the inside of wooden grips a bit but don't affect the frame really.

At least none that I have used ever have.

I do only have very old tylers though, Can't tell you anything about ones made after the 80's

I believe the tabs on a Tyler are brass. The bodies are aluminum. I haven't noticed any wear on the front of the grip frames, but they do leave a slight impression on the inside of the wood grip panels.

If these are guns you plan on carrying and shooting regularly, any wear caused by the adaptor will be negligible compared to the turn line and holster wear.

Will not be carrying these, will take to range tho. I’m pretty mechanical and it just seems that they would leave a witness mark on rear top side of trigger guard and down the inside toe of frame to where the grip terminated.I did wonder how the stocks would fair also.

I believe the tabs are brass as noted or copper ? I’ve never had or seen a frame scratched by older or newer Tyler’s or the BKs which have 2 sets of tabs. I have both older and newer Tyler’s and the BKs.

I have seen marks on the frames from the adapters and I have them all--Tylers, BK and the old Pachs. Bk has two clips so more marks but any of the marks can easily be rubbed out.

Thanks all. Lot of beautiful looking revolvers on this site wearing them. Appreciate the input.

The Mershon , Pachmyar and the S&W grip adapters were some kind of resin or plastic. The Tyler’s are aluminum, anodized either black, bronze or left plain. The B K’s are a polymer of some sort. I have been using them for decades. Never noticed a mark on the frame. When I return from my business trip, I will have a look and post images.
