Grip identification help requested please

I have a set of grips I took off of either a 686 or a 629 and I forget which.....

Markings match on the inner side of the panels. They read "NT-38 5826". Should I assume N-Frame? Definitely a square butt, checkered targets with gold medallions. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

I am going to guess neither. Sounds like they could be off of a .38/44 Outdoorsman.

When the last .38/44 was shipped, checkered grips still came with diamonds. Sounds like these would be much later.

629s are N-frames, and 686s (L-frames) take K-frame grips. Which gun do they fit better?

The "NT" means N frame targets and I think the 4 digit number is a parts number. I have a few sets like that.
