Anyone ever had this problem? I have a model 66-2 snub and a nickel 19-4 snub that look almost identical. The grips (pachs) that came with the 19-4 never really fit right, they had alot of space inside the 'spine' area and there was a space on top that I could fit my finger in. I always thought the grips were misshapen. Well today I put the 19-4's grips on the 66-2 and they fit perfectly, no spacing or soft spots. I then put the 66-2 rubber grips on the 19-4 and they cannot even lightly sit in them, I then tried another set of grips (fake pearls) on the 19-4 and they do not fit at all but fit perfectly on the 66-2.
Both of these guns are K frame round butt, why doesn't anything fit on the 19-4?

Does the 19-4 have tight lines cut down the back of the grip frame? I was wondering if perhaps it came into the world as a square butt and was reshaped?

Back in the day, magma grips were fitted to individual guns. The oversized stocks were not fitted. I have seen a lot of variation in grip frame frames.

A space that you can put your finger in!!??
And the other "not fitting at all"
I would like to see pics of the bad fits that you describe.
That goes beyond "variation".
My first thought was the same as Ashlander"s - a modified square butt.

If you'll look closely at the OP's photo, you'll see that both guns front sight assemblies extend all the way to the front of the frames. This means that both of these guns were in all likelihood originally shipped from the factory with 2 1/2" barrels, and thus would have been round butt configured from the factory as well.

There's obviously something strange going on here, but it's not a SB to RB modification.

Here are the pictures of the frames, grips and a pic of the 19 sitting in the pachs.

The model 19 frame looks like it has been "pinched" (like in a vice) and the grip frame narrowed, effectively elongating the grip frame and narrowing it. Does not look like an easy fix...:(

I was going to say N-frame grips!

But the last pictures ......... strange......

looks like you need to rework some factory magna grips to fit/match the backstrap and add a BK or T-grip adapter.

I just bought a 66-2 with Pachmyer wood combat grips. I went to put them on my 19-3 (both RB as above) and they would not fit, same problem as above. Looking at the grip frame, they are obviously slightly different as above. My 19-3 is original and has never been touched.
