Grip making- G10?

So I'm stuck around the house for the next few weeks and I've been thinking about making a set (or two) of grips out of G10 laminate. I will likely start with something easy like 1911 or Ruger MK IV grips. I have the material and pretty much all the tools needed to make wood grips. Does anyone here have any experience working with it? Special tools /precautions needed?
Any help appreciated.

I made some knife scales from G10, it's easy to work with. Wear a mask to protect yourself from the dust.

The G10 is similar to laminated glass fiber. It's pretty abrasive on cutting tools, you will want to use carbide to cut it with. A shop vac nozzle positioned next to the cutting action is a good idea to suck up as much dust as possible, and wear a mask too.

Absolutely do not saw, grind, or sand G-10 without very adequate respiratory protection. Good eye protection is also necessary, not just from impacts but from dust getting in your eyes. These things also apply when cleaning up the dust and residue when finished with these activities! A good vacuum system, either dedicated or improvised with a vacuum of some sort is probably a great idea! Just make sure the vacuum will not allow the dust to escape from the vacuum cannister while in use. That will spread the dust everywhere!
