Grip Question N-Frame

My hands are medium size, possibly on the smaller end of medium.

I notice most of the S&W Grips cover the back of the trigger guard and limit your middle finger and hand from riding up higher in that area. I imagine that my grip would improve if I got a grip that afforded more room behind the trigger guard, so my middle finger and hand could ride up higher.

It's easy to spend dollars on top of dollars to try different grips, so I thought I'd ask if anyone has selected or modified a grip for this reason and share their experience.

It's dang hard to improve on the "Magnas and a Grip Adapter" like a BK Grip (who is a forum member).

I have been thinking about trying a Magna grip or something similar, but without the grip adapter shown.

Also, regarding the contortion mentioned, I shoot a lot of Single action revolvers and except that the trigger finger goes through a much smaller range of motion, the finger alignment seems to be similar to what I am inquiring about.

Take a look at Altamont's Roper style grips. They allow you to get much higher up on the butt.

Attached is a pix contrasting (on a K frame) the Roper grips to the standard Targets. The Ropers are also longer and not as thick.

Dr. Mordo has the cheapest and easiest solution. I wear a smallish medium sized glove. I've used Magnas and Tyler Ts since 1972, on all frame sizes including Colt DSes. Keeps the Magnas from twisting in your hand from recoil, and keeps the second finger from getting whacked by the triggerguard.

I injured my bird finger a couple years ago , right where the point of contact is on it from the grip behind the trigger guard. When struggling to get a higher grip, it can irritate that old injury.
Now I have not tried the N frame grip, but I did put a set of VZ grips on a 686. They not only are cut really high behind the trigger guard, they also have a really flat , wide , pad in that area. As far as how they feel on my sometimes sensitive finger, they are the best so far.

Depends on what era factory grips you are having a problem with.Since you posted in this section 1980 to present,Im going to assume you are referring to the speed loader cut out version.
Football targets will let you hold a much higher grip than the cutout grips due to a narrower throat area on the Footballs.
