I just got a 10-2, dating about 1961, with correct Magna grips. I thought both grips were cracked, but it turns out they were symmetrically scratched as you can see in the picture. I was wondering is anyone might know the reason behind the scratches?
Thanks.

Maybe just a little friction added by the owner to keep the grip from riding up in his hand.

Maybe he thought it looked good or was trying to hide some dent in the wood.

That's about all I can speculate, never seen it done before.

Appears to be a previous owners personal "decoration" for some unknown reason known only to him. Seems odd and have never seen anything similar. There have been many far worse personal "embellishments" done to all sorts of guns I have seen.

Maybe it is an ID mark some guy at a PD or security co. put on so he could easily find the same gun every time they picked up weapons.
Maybe it is an ID mark some guy at a range or training facility put on the best gun or the worst gun they had.
Maybe aliens did it.......

Lee, I think you're right. That seems logical, and purposeful. I'm just glad they're not cracks! Thank you.
