Grip suggestions, please

It's time to find some new grips for a few of my guns.
I have small hands with a deep curve to my palm and find that I need more palm swell to better fit my hand.
The three I want to find new grips for are my K-frame Model 65-5, round butt, L-frame 686+ round butt and my N-frame Model 29 square butt. I just don't like rubber grips at all, on top of being truly ugly IMHO I want to use wood to help prevent clothing cling when carrying.

Recommendations, please.

I have small hands and really like the feel of my Hogue wood grips. I think they are called "big butt" grips, but I'm not sure.

YES!!! the ones in the top pic are just what I have in mind. They look like they would fit my oddly shaped hands.

I'm partial to Ahrends and also have small hands. I've tried many other and keep coming back to them. I do have Uncle Mikes on 2 of my J frames and they are fantastic for pointability and absorbing recoil, especially with the .357. You can find them on E-Bay.

For the N frame Hogues are great. I took sandpaper to the ones (not original) on my 6" model 57 and shaved the front and side portions down till they felt good. That .41 mag has 37 deer to it's name in 29 years.

Great thread. I too am looking to replace a set of hogue rubber grips on a 66 no dash. The Ahrends Boot Grips look like just the thing I am looking for.

I've found that on my Model 28-2 that Ahrends Retro target fit really well for my smallish hands ( as well as looking great!)

Again, thank you! I think I've found the perfect grips, the Ahrends Retro Combat grips(stocks?) seem like they should be perfect.
I called them today and described the problem I have with the stock walnut "Target" grips that came on it.
The Cordia wood in oil finish sounds like a beautiful contrast with the (almost black) blue finish. $86.00 shipped isn't bad at all.
I'm hoping a grip that fits my hands will improve my accuracy as well. My best so far has been a little over a 2 inches for 12 rounds fired one handed at 21 feet, I'd like to see that under 1.5 inches.

Here's another option - Spegel Round Butt, K frame grips. I have large hands and these are borderline too small - probably perfect for your hands.

I'm not sure those would work for me, I have a square butt, err, wait that doesn't sound right, my Model 29 is a square butt.
I will check into those as well, though.

The Ahrends Retro Combat grips are a bit round-er than the Tactical grips. They're also thinner than the S&W Target grips...

The Tactical grips are oval or elliptical shaped, and then squared-off on the front (and squared-off on the back for the square-butt and round-to-square versions). The Tactical grips honestly took a little getting used to, but after using them on my competition guns for almost two years, I prefer their look and feel to almost anything else...

2" at at 21 feet is "combat accurate"--good enough to get the job done; what more do you want? To plug the same hole over and over?

Well...if you want that (especially one-handed) you oughtta get into Bullseye. And then you could join me in being the crazy competitors shooting wheelguns in a semi-automatic-dominated sport!

That said now I'm wondering about those combat grips being thinner than the factory target grips? That might not work for me. Where I need more fullness is in the palm area, especially on the right side grip, pretty much in the screw area is where most grips seem too small for the curve of my hand.
Are the tactical grips fuller in that area than the combat grips?

Because of their oval shape, I find myself not putting much pressure side-to-side on the Tactical grips, with most of the pressure instead being front to back. I feel that makes them more accurate to me, since I'm not influencing the guns side-to-side, at least in competition. The round-butt grips are something of an exception--my hand wraps around them a bit more (they're a little smaller), so my palm contacts the grips a bit better and probably works better when I'm practicing defensive shooting. The combat grips, being a bit more cylindrical in shape, fill the palms better. I never really liked them on my competition guns, but they'd probably work for a sidearm.
