I have a 34-1 with 2" barrel, square butt Serial #M76xxxxx that I take with me hiking/fishing and would love to find a set a grips that fill out better vs the originals on it now.

Anyone out there find something they like besides the Tyler T grip

Suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Pics would be wonderful.

Thanks

I prefer the Tyler. If you will send me your address in a PM, I will send you these Pachmayer grips I took off my square-butt Model 63 just as a "welcome" to a new member. That is if they look like what you have in mind. If you aren't pleased with them, I'll send you your money back.;):D

redlevel:

I greatly appreciate the "welcome" and the money back guarentee, LOL.

I humbly regret that I will pass on your offer for the Pachmayer grips.

I have a pair for my 620 and in the spirit of "welcome" offer them to anyone could use them. Don't believe I can meet redlevel's most generous terms and conditions though.

I have a pair of J frame smooth combat grips. They are almost like new, with just a barely noticeable handling mark. If I don't point it out you may not find it. I'd sell these for $45 plus $5 shipping.

CDNN had Sile square butt J targets on sale last week for $7. I bought a set for my 34-1 but haven't tried to fit them yet. They look nice enough, same orangish color as the stock stocks.

I like Spegel boot grips, or if rubber is your thing Uncle Mikes makes a rubber set that resembles the Spegel's

I have purchased two Sile grips from CDNN. I like the fit and feel of them. They are not of high quality but the price is right.

Mike: if you have not tried to put them on yet I will give you a warning. Both of mine chipped out at the butt area when I tried to press them on. You need to relieve the wood on the curved area at the butt just a little for them to fit right.

I got my mod.34 fired with Pachmayr grips, but without the usual Pachmayr insert ; you can only find the name Pachmayr at the bottom of the grips. It's a square butt made in the nineties (BEYxxxx). Do you think that it was originaly sold by S&W with these grips ?
I would prefer to fit it with S&W wood grips, but I cannot find square butt J frame grips in Western Europe !

And I found there are not many sellers in the USA that want to trade with someone in Europe :(

I can understand that, as sometimes you get a lot hassle with Customs-declarations, although I suppose grips would be free to trade?
Not all Customs-employees feel that way though, and that is where the trouble starts!

My 4" 34-1 "22/32 kit gun" wears rather pretty smooth factory target stocks. I don't know if they are still offered. For 22LR nothing more is needed though wood stocks are likely to collect patina through use.

Here's my pre-43 with some target grips I found on e-bay for short money. I prefer them to the original magnas, which I have. They fill my hand much better, and allow me to preserve the originals. They look pretty good to boot.
