Any one familar with Pachmayr's 03249 gripper grips for J frames? I gave my nephew a Model 36 with compact Pachmayr grips (03252). He was uncomfortable with the lack of room for his pinkie finger. Let him try my J frame with Hogue mono grips. He prefers the feel/swell of the Pachmayrs but the length of the Hogue. I assume the 03249 grips are larger but can't find any specs on them. Would appreciate any input before I order the grips.

I can't give you any specifics, but......

I really like the Pachmayrs on my 36. They have the finger grips which happen to fit me ok, I get both a full length grip and a fuller grip. I put the Hogue Monogrip on my mod 38 (for some reason, it seems like they didn't have a Pachmayr for that gun???). My son has the gun so I can't say how the two grips compare, but it did make it more comfortable to shoot .38s through. My first choice would be the Pachmeyrs. Both the Pachmayrs and the Hogues were improvements over the original grips in everything but looks, but for shooting that was fine.

PS: I have the Pachmeyr 'Gripper' J frame grips #03249 It seems that the model 38 had square grips and Hogue had the ones to fit.

I ran those Pachmayr Compact (03252) grips on my Chief's Special for about forty years. I bought them when I was a rookie because that's what the other guys were running on their back-ups back then. It's hard to argue with success.
