Hey all,
I am new to the forum and brand new to the 15-22. I love it but how should it be grouping, I'm getting probably 4 inch groups at 50. Is this what ya'll are getting? The scope is a Bushnell Red Dot Trophy.

Here are some average groups of mine with cheapo 36 grain bulk ammo and CCI Mini-Mags 36 grain and 40 grain. havn't tried any match ammo yet.

If you want to get good groups, you're going to have to use a magnified optic because a red dot like yours is simply not going to allow you to group very well. 4X is the minimum I would consider. Look at the Mueller APT (4.5-14x40) scopes - good glass for $150.

i had the same problem with groups using iron sights..even though everyone swears you can shoot 2'' groups with irons at 50 yds. i'll get back to the thread when i get my optic to the range.

I took mine out to the range today. I have a red dot reflex sight on it, and with the Las Vegas sun today, I could barely see the dot. I can't wait for my NcStar Mark III scope to come in next week.

Well, I learned a trick for RDS in that, to get more precision out of longer range shots, use the upper edge of the dot as your aiming reference. It's much more precise than trying to center the dot itself, since most are 2-4moa wide, which means at 50yds, it's anywhere from 1-2" of the target.

Depending on how you zero, e.g. at 25 yds, that little offset from the dot might be about correct to make up for the ~1.5" variance in bullet trajectory at 50yds as well.

All that said, I have an APT on my bolt-action .22 and it is excellent out to at least 100yds. The mil-dot reticle is very useful.

out of the box i was shooting 3 inch groups at 50 yds with no adjustment with iron sights lol, now im using scope i have yet to fully zero in and im like 4 inch groups, but i can get 4 to 5 inch groups at 100 yards lol

This is what I am getting at 50 yds with CCI ammo and a NcStar 2-7 variable scope, this black circle is 3 inches across with the center ring being 1 inch, this is also shooting pretty rapid fire shots

This is shooting with my reflexive sight (using a red dot reticle) at 50 yds with CCI ammo

Looking at Natchjager and my groups I'd say with CCI, around 2.5" ish at 50 should be about the norm and 1.5" can be done if you are having a good day and conditions are good. Anyhting bigger than 3 and its probably the shooter or mabe a flyer.

Im getting this at 60 yards. This picture was taken while I was "zeroing" my Eotech 552 clone. The 3 "fliers" are a result of still zeroing the sight. I used Binoculars, to make each adjustment to my sight as to which way the sight needed to be moved, untill it reached its zero. After getting it dialed in, Im getting groups like this center hole every outing. Just didnt happen to have a camera on me, the last time I went to the range.( A few days after zeroing)
