Gun Bill coming up for a vote

They're looking to do more than just extend the current law out 10 years.

The Sentate bill has VERY screwy language. It wants an plastic gun to have a peice of metal big enough to enable current screening technologies to detect it PERMANENTLY attached.

Glocks, M&P's, plastic lower receivers, and many other polymer guns HAVE metal but NONE of it is permanently attached. Never mind the part that is plastic is unable to act as a firearm on it's own.

Does this bill mean all current guns that don't fit this bill become illegal?

And how do you make it permanent? If it's a sliver in the grip, it could be removed (not that would do any good for the complete gun) or is it to become part of the gun in such a way that the gun is structurally unsound if it was attempted to be removed?

This is even dumber than the California law Smart Gun law.

Time to make our voices known.

H.R. 3626: To extend the Undetectable Firearms Act of 1988 for 10 years. - POPVOX.com

The fudds in PA are trying to rally behind this trojan horse as best they can, but fortunately there are enough people who recognize the "printed gun" hullabaloo for the manufactured crisis it is.

Heck, I think the entire argument for it can be debunked by simply pointing out that the ammunition used by these "undetectable guns" is metallic and easily detected in airport screenings.

According to Fox News, the bill was passed by the Senate today. No info yet on whether the bill just extends existing law, or adds new restrictions additionally, as some of the Democrats were trying to include. The NRA had no issues with extending the existing ban, as it will put this issue to bed for the next 10 years. They just didn't want anything else added.

I think the House rejected Schumer's version, an attempt to slip in some more anti-gun wording. From what I heard, the "original" Law would have been extended had not Schumer been up to his usual devious tricks.

One of these days I'm going to find a Schumer supporter. I'm going to sit them down and have a honest and civil dialog. We'll part ways with a new understanding of one another. Then I'll follow them back to loony bin they keep breaking out of and weld the damn bars and door shut.

Who needs a plastic gun, the bad guys around here can get all the metal gun that they want. It's the good guys who can't get a gun around here. We've just been named the third toughest gun law state, lucky us.

WHY?!? Why is EVERYONE reporting that plastic firearms now exist? The only one I've ever seen fired, exploded on the firing table. Where the hell is this functioning plastic gun?

Associated Press said:
Plastic guns were in their infancy when President Ronald Reagan and Congress first enacted the ban against undetectable firearms, and when it was renewed in 1998 and 2003. But such weapons have become a growing threat and can now be produced by 3-D printers, which are becoming better and more affordable.
