Gun confiscation has begun.....

Yup. Just what many were warning about with the whole "mental health problem" issue.

So where did they get that medical information?

What next? In Kalifornistan we need to show ID for OTC cold medicine containing ephedrine (or somesuch). Suppose they made that a banned substance?

"They" are not stupid. Everything they do has a reason.

We've discussed this before. The danger, obviously, is mandating any treatment provider (doctor, therapist, etc) to report ANY concerns about a persons stability. That's about as broad a requirement as you can get. These (required reporters) will, of course, err on the side of caution and report ANYONE just to CTA. All gun owners will now be reevaluating their relationship with their doctor and any other mandated reporter. A real can of worms has been opened.

So now will those that need psychological/psychiatric treatment not seek it out to avoid having their guns confiscated? That's all we need! Where will the real craziness end?

The craziness will end when we all take action. We can't complacently say it's only in New York, so it doesn't bother me in Wisconsin or Utah or wherever.

Write your elected officials. Talk to your friends and neighbors. Stand up for those in other states. Do whatever you can every chance you get.

You get what you vote for.
It ticks me off that most people know more about their sports teams and TV personalities than they do about who they vote for.

I have to respectfully disagree, we get what the majority votes for and not what "we" vote for, "we" being firearms enthusiasts.

I certainly hope this isn't going to get me a demerit for politics but I had to comment.

Here is another article if you are over 55 about taking your Guns.

UN Arms Trade Treaty Calls for Disarmament of Persons 55 and Older - Guns.com

The article mentions over age 55 as being the "twilight years". They also feel people over that age are a threat to themselves and shouldn't own a gun. With that line of reasoning why not apply this to cars? Perhaps the people arguing this point need to spend a few days driving in Florida and trying to sell this to the AARP members. What a joke.

I saw this article circulating and just this morning read about it's validity on "The truth about guns"website where even after they reported it earlier is now not so sure of it's validity because of no corroborating contact or evidence from either the source or authorities.....As is my habit, I will reserve an opinion either way until such time as more info is available. I see time and again where our community blindly rally being a cause or incident because we so desperately need a hero or victim to illustrate and embody our collective frustration.
I would urge patients least we all appear as gullible fools to our foes.

Just another front in the Battle for the RKBA. Do those with "mental health" problems forfeit any other rights?

I don't take any of these ideas (age limits) seriously. Why, if they tried something like this, they'd bring down an organization more powerful than the NRA........AARP. If they think gun owners are tough, they haven't seen anything yet.

You ain't lying....just see what happens to your political career and driveway shrubbery if you were to suggest a mandatory age should be instated for seniors to relinquish their driver's permit....

And I must respectfully disagree. In the last election, 12 MILLION less voters turned out to the polls. Even if you hated "the other guy", sitting on your *** in protest was a vote for this ****. Joe

From the linked article:

The New York State Department of Health is apparently conducting a search of medical records to determine who is being treated for anxiety drugs and using this as a basis for handgun license revocation

I thought a person's medical records are private information, isn't it a violation of HIPAA laws if an examination of the record is unauthorized?

I haven't seen the details of the NY law but assume it would be easy for them to "authorize" the release of such information. I suspect that with the push-back from the states the "gun control" folks will try and insert such language in bills such as Obama Care. Watch for the small print.

So when do all the cops and soldiers that are on an anti-depressant have to turn in their weapons?

I love it when things go full circle!

If you havent heard about this story look it up.
(Husband's Firearms Confiscated Because Wife was Voluntarily Committed)

And not a peep about this from international news groups such as FOX? CBS and NBC would both be on the air applauding it if it were true. Silence from the NRA about it? Senators and Congressman on both sides of the fence would be on the tube in support of or trashing it. Its all staged hogwash at this stage.

Don't expect the AARP to stand up for anything. They're in it for the insurance sales money. They'de throw you under the bus in a second if they could make something off of it. AARP is on record as anti 2A. They quit sending me mail because I would send their postage free stuff back to them ...attached to a brick. AARP is not your friend.

+1 on that message. I trash everything that comes from them and don't want their "pennies off" membership benefits. If you are a member you support gun control, intentionally or not.

Can you think of an easier way to disarm the Veterans the DHS has on their terrorist watch list?

This was one case, now rescinded by the police. It may or may not be the start of something, but one case does not make a trend. A lawyer is involved, one who seems to have an agenda, and he made this public. All the other reports are cut and paste.

Exactly, and just further illustrates my point that perhaps we should just lay back for awhile to await all the facts one way or the other before working ourselves into a lather....

It's like the Geico commercial....because it's on the internet it MUST be true.
