Maybe I am missing something here. Why is an official background check such a bad idea? How would I, as a private citizen, know the guy I am selling to was never committed on a 5150, or that he has no felonies? ... Out of all the other gun control nonsense, a background check sounds like the one thing that might make some sense, doesn't it?
When you get into these sorts of "laws" they include you transferring a firearm to you child, spouse, neighbor, etc. The FFL's love it (California charges up to $100 to transfer firearm from father to son; husband to wife, etc.)
It servers absolutely no purpose in attempting to stop firearm violence!!!!
