I thought it would be fun to experiment a bit with some special effects on gun photos, making some interesting photos that might be suitable for framing. Here's some examples; help me out and let me know which you might like best, OK?

Here's the basic shot of a 3rd Model Safety Hammerless .32. This gun was shipped in 1921, making it 91 years old. I think it was a "sock drawer special," as it appears to be unfired.

I voted to leave it alone, but the grainy & posterized are interesting alternatives - maybe combine one large unaltered image with a couple of the others that are smaller - like a collage.

IMHO image manipulation is useful in advertising and as a tool in artistic expression; much as air brushing or dodging to remove a blemish on a face; but a certain amount of patina or weathering is also valued as in the old argument to reblue or not may affect the value to some. I like the original best but a very nice well done job on the examples.

I don't need no help makin' things look weird. My old peepers do enuff of that on their own.

That is one nice lookin' little breaktop.

At my age and with my eyes I get all of the special effects I can stand, especially with all the floaters I got... and I don't even have to be drinkin'.
