This is our first full-time year as Florida residents. Any recommendations as to gun shops with a good selection of used stuff? We're in Sarasota County and I don't mind driving a couple of hours if the shop has a decent selection to look over. Most of the shops I've seen around here are small and have very little used inventory.

For used stuff try the Lakeland Gun Show on the 17th & 18th of Sept. It will be the smaller of their shows, probably about 400 tables.
Most gun shops here don't carry a lot of used stuff. I am lucky that I have one that does about 3 miles from my house, I am on the other side of the state though.

I live down in Port Charlotte. I've used J&J one stop gun shop in PC and Higher power outfitters in Punta Gorda and like them both. J&J has a nice indoor range and a really good on-staff gunsmith. Higher power is convenient to the Cecil Webb outdoor range that I frequent. For FFL transfers, I use county line pawn in Northport. He ships out pistols for less than $20 and charges $15 for incoming transfers.
None of them really have much for used inventory and they overcharge(as do all dealers, IMO). I'd rather deal direct locally with someone who is selling a gun on Florida gun trader or Armslist and eliminate the middleman. Everybody thinks their gun is worth more than I want to pay for it, but with some haggling, I've found some good deals.
The gun shows are always fun, but I usually find a good deal in 1 out of 4 or 5 shows I attend, so you have to figure in the per show cost and tack it on. The best show up in your area is the one at the Manatee civic center in Bradenton. Tampa fairgrounds and Lakeland civic center are also great shows. The one at Robarts arena is smaller, but ok.

In Naples I go to Wayne Bergquist Guns. Right across from his place is a classic gun shop with all used. Neither place has the large quantity you suggest. I understand the odds are greater, but I have been to many a LGS with a large quantity of nothing I want.
Wayne is a very good gunsmith as well. I got a good deal there on a High Standard Victor that I found no where else.
BTW, if you like pulled pork. The Black Eyed Pig is just down the street.
The Alamo Range is also in Naples and has a large selection.

He has (since my last visit in April) a large assortment of used collector grade S&W & Colt revolvers and pistols. For such a tiny shop he has some really nice stuff.

You would like Dow's Arms Room in Pasco county. A bit of a drive up 301 to Dade City.

I've hit the Lakeland, Tampa, Bradenton, Orlando and a few other gun shows, with mixed results. I've been going to some smaller shows; not nearly as much polymer, and a few good deals.

Is Coate of Arms still in N Ft. Myers? He was cool old guy that usually had a nice selection of older and even odd stuff. Not a huge place
