Anyone here from the Denver area going to the Tanner gun show in Denver this weekend?

I'm in Ft. Collins visiting in-laws and think a trip down I-25 might be a pleasant activity for me while my sweet wife visits with her two sisters. My BIL is beyond dis-interested in firearms.

It's 800 miles from me, but with my Daughter living near there I have been to 3 or 4 of the shows. Typical gun show, big enough to see lots and possible find something. Prices usually high. The best show is the Colorado Collectors show in the same location, but they open the back doors and add another 30% to it. It is a great show, and you don't see any black plastic there.

I have not been to this "Tanner Gun Show" for a while and I may go tomorrow. I shared a table at this show during better times.

This was a great show in the past but it has deteriorated by allowing sellers of any kind in the last couple years. They had a booth where they were cutting hair last year (disgusting) and they are doing what they can to maintain profitability by selling tables to anyone and keep their doors open.

Good luck and enjoy viewing the guns while these shows are still allowed in this state. It's turning into California here and our laws and people are changing.

Between the construction, vacation traffic (aka: all the stinking Texans) and commuters, the stretch of I-25 between Ft. Collins and Loveland looks like a parking lot every afternoon.

I just drove back from the Front Range Gun Club in Loveland and fortunately have been up here enough to avoid the worst traffic.

The Tanner shows are largely black guns, jerky, tacticool garments and survivalist stuff.

Among the dreck, I’ve occasionally found something interesting (to me) but most of the time it’s a triumph of hope over experience.

I have found prices to be high at gun shows, and being a conservative, I feel like I am already fighting $10 in the hole on any deal I am trying to strike there because of the entrance fee. I used to like to go when times were better ( mid to late 90's), there were a lot of great deals and even better connections to be made at a show.

Still, better than hanging out with the in laws.... and like thebolt said, you might want to go and experience a show if you have never been and want to. They may not be around these parts much longer.

I picked up on this thread Friday pm because I did intend to go to the Tanner in Denver today. I read the comments about the hi $$ and all the knick-knack tables and ALMOST talked myself out of it. Was looking for a smaller dbl action 22lr for my youngest g'son for training purposes. I'm drifting thru the aisles not seeing much and then hello...little Smith (M317 Air Lite lnib) I was almost skeered to turn the tag over knowing these and not the cheapest offerings...$450 and he said he shot it once and had very little carbon fouling anywhere and very tight. "How much for cash?" Ready to go 400$ right now. When he said 350$ I damn near sprained my wrist going for the wallet. $370 otd w/background check.
Sometimes you just gotta go and have a look see cause you never know until you look...
