Gun show report. Not good.

I still go to the shows. I know everyone gripes about prices but I still find deals. Not every show but quite often. Usually it is only one gun or acc worth messing with.

I went to the Panama City show this weekend to get a concealed carry holster for my new M&P45, and I knew the guy that made the one I wanted was going to be there.

Also bought a couple of 50-round boxes of practice ammo for the .45, and my wife found a CC purse that she liked.

That was all we bought, but we did see a few guns that were at least reasonable, if not 'deals' that I would have picked up had it been something I wanted.

I would not pay outrageous prices for .22LR now. It's starting to show up a LOT more frequently at online stores. Take a look at the ammo thread in the 15-22 section to give you an idea of availability last week.

I go to most of them around here. I have not found any real bargins in quite a while but I like to be around all those guns, gun people and I want to support the shows. It's only $8 or $9 here and sure beats staying home and doing a honey-do list.
And I sure won't find a bargin at home.

There was a show 40 miles away today that I considered going to (cabin fever) until I found out there is a show in my town next week. I decided to wait.

Went to the guns show in Little Rock today and had a great time. Most everyone was friendly and seemed to want to visit. Looked for some vintage grips for one of my revolvers. Visited with several vendors about S & Ws and everyone was eager to talk and offer opinions and advice, whether they had anything I was interested in or not.

Ammo and guns were expensive, but still a nice selection to look at. Only place to find some less common types.

Some powder and primers too. Prices reasonable.

The gun show seems to be the place to get hard to find stuff without spending a lot of time and gas going from place to place. When you factor in shipping costs, tax and aggravation, some of the prices are worth it.

Besides, where else can you waste an afternoon around interesting stuff and people for only $9?

Pretty much same here @ last weeks Pensacola show . Only 2 guns I'd of bought a H-S Victor w/ 2 mags ( was so filthy I couldn't trully evaluate it PASSED & a 98% Win 70 Fwt in 6.5x55 wasn't sure about twist rate & I like heavy bullets in the Swede ) . 22 sarted @ $45 for a carton of Fed Auto Match ( 325 rnds ) , $ 99 a brick for CCI SV etc . Sold a pre 17 shooter ( 85 - 90% ) & 200 Speer 180gr FP .358 bullets for $525 . Threw in 200rnds 22 ammo so he could shoot his new gun . Dang I thought the guy was gonna cry . Some primers CCI $35 a 1000 , Fed were $40 . Might of been 10lbs of powder in the whole building .

In my area you're out $20-ish + gas before you even get to that $80/500 .22 ammo.

I think the last time I was at a gun show they were still selling drop in auto sears...

some of these prices on revolvers of old are crazy. Nevertheless, I enjoy going, you never know what will turn up.

The advantage of gun shows is that a lot of vendors are in one place at one time. Which allows the potential buyers the chance to wander around, look at pricing and availability, and make buying decisions without making dozens of phone calls and road trips.
I enjoy gun shows best when I have no specific wants, needs, or expectations. Occasionally I come across a bargain, but it's a treat when I do.

All of the above! ;)

We only have two a year. One is coming up this weekend. Based on the past two years' shows and the fact that this area is full of hoarders who buy without regard to price, I am not optimistic but will go anyhow.

As long as fools will pay high prices.... Prices will remain HIGH.
Simple as that.

Several of us usually hit the April Big Reno show each Spring but this April we may miss it. Prices are so crazy it's not worth the time and effort to attend.

Even our local shows have had silly prices lately. So crazy, not worth attending in my opinion.

From the start if people would have resisted the high prices...the prices would have quickly dropped. but people panic, others get greedy, it's simple supply and demand.

I think a lot of them might be new shooters who jumped on the panic black rifle bandwagon. They didn't know that $100/brick for .22LR or $1/round .223 was insane and had the $$$ to point & click their way to Less Expensive Than Soil and get their $149/brick bulk Thunderbolts.
