Just for fun ...... It was 1977. My new girlfriend was a bit "gun shy". We were watching a TV drama in which the "bad guys" were breaking into the nice young family's home. I asked her what she would do if she had a gun available. She hemmed and hawed saying she didn't know if she could actually use a gun even in that kind of situation.
Some time passes and the "gun shy" little gal has now had the benefit of a good deal of range time (and self defense rationality). This included full power .44 mags plopped neatly into the black by her from a 4" M29. That little gal was a great student ! About a year later, we were watching another TV drama that presented a similar scenario as that first one. I asked her the same question again. She didn't miss a beat and replied ..... "I'd blow their heads off" !!
Fast forward about 12 years and my former long term girlfriend is now married. She and her husband are attending the wedding of my nephew (she was still a close "aunt"). Her husband and I introduced ourselves and began a friendly conversation. It turned out he was also a "gun guy" and we happily launched on all things "firearm". After a while, he said to me in a very pleased way ... "You know ..... Sharon is a REALLY good shot". I quickly realized that he had forgotten with whom he was talking
. I hesitated with any response, feeling that it would dawn on him fairly quickly. Then...... "Oh yeah ... YOU taught her" .... Priceless !!
Well.... "Aunt Sharon" and "Uncle Chuck" are part of my extended family. They have been happily married for 26 years now. Just last week I talked with both of them to catch up about their moving to a retirement community. Sharon and I talked about THAT. But guess what Chuck and I talked about
