My father passed away and left me a Smith and Wesson 25-2 45 acp revolver (nickel). This is a really nice gun, but I have no clue to its value. It does have a 6 1/2" barrel. It also has a walnut box that it came in. Any idea of what its worth?

Of course condition is everything, but I would venture $600 - $850. Being from your Dad..priceless.

Shoot it and have fun. Your Dad will be smilin....unless of course it was a pristine collector piece, then watch out, he's watching.

I am not an advanced collector, but I'm pretty familiar with the 25-2. I've never heard of or seen one in nickel. If in fact it is a factory original, it's worth a bunch. If refinished, it's in the $500-600 range as a shooter depending on condition.

Nickel, with the presentation case, if it is in nice condition I think it is worth at least $1000.

Make sure you get it out to the range and shoot it, because that is one sweet shooting gun. Recoil will be very minimal, and it will have real nice accuracy.

I saw a nice blue one today at the LGS for $1100. I passed because I've bought too many guns lately. It was nice and probably fairly priced.

The 25-2 was not offered in nickel.
I've seen a few that were sent back for nickel over the years.
If a Factory job, it will still bring good money- maybe 1000-1500.
If not a Factory job, those figures will fall like a rock, depending on the quality of the nickel job.

There were 13 engineering changes in two calibers to this model.
