Gunbroker purchase

This past week I won an auction for a shotgun on Gunbroker. I contacted the seller and told him that I had given the info. to my FFL guy who orders for me. Well, he contacted the seller also to get the ball rolling. He told me the seller was rude, confused, and seemed to be a little annoyed that he called him. Why is he on there selling then??? I sent him a money order for the gun on Sat. and then called him on Wednesday to make sure he got it. He said he did and then said I seemed to be persistent. That rubbed me the wrong way. I told him that was the way I did business, if I paid that much for an item I was going to make sure it got where it was supposed to go. He ships UPS and I haven't got a tracking# from him yet, even though he claimed he shipped it out on Wed. I'm just a little annoyed at this guy right now. If and when I receive this gun he's going to get another call and this one won't be so friendly. Has anyone else had any problems like this on Gunbroker??

Twenty plus buys from GunBroker and only one that was iffy. 29-2 had light rust inside when I took the side plate off. Can't really blame the seller for that. I did get a pre 18 off of Guns America that had a forcing cone the is not square. The gun is very accurate but binds up if not cleaned often while shooting. How was the sellers feed back?

No such problems, as yet. Once in awhile there's been some confusion on the part of transfer dealers as to what's kosher or not, but every instance has so far been easily and amicably resolved. I'd ask the seller for the tracking number if he claims he's shipped the gun --- it's a legitimate question, and he ought to be happy to provide it. Antagonizing him won't advance your position... (However much he may richly deserve vicious castigation...)

So far my GB purchases have all been satisfactory. But I know it is a huge marketplace, and not every participant will be as attentive or committed to a good transaction as most people who buy and sell there.

I tend to be impressed by numbers. If a seller is new or has only a few transactions, I won't bother to bid on something he has, even if I yearn for it. A couple of dozen transactions with an A rating or above is a good enough indicator for me; when you get somebody with a high rating and hundreds of transactions, you should feel pretty confident.

That doesn't mean that every seller with lots of transactions and a high rating will always follow through properly. If the seller is elderly and drifting into dementia, suffers from alcohol or some other drug dependency, or is suffering from an acute health problem or a demanding situation in his private life, those are reasons why a deal might be slow to conclude. I kind of get the feeling that the seller in this case is finding it difficult to focus on the business of closing out a commitment. Good luck with wrapping this up.

The seller has done alot of business on GB and has alot of positive feedback. He does have some negatives, but I have read some very good comments about his merchandise and salesmanship. My FFL said he did seem confused about some of the questions he asked him. I just hope this deal comes off problem free and we can move on. I have bought some other items off GB and was very pleased with the results. I do feel that the majority of the sellers are honest and willing to work with the customer, at least in my opinion. Should know something by this weekend or beginning of next week. Keeping the fingers crossed.
