Make sure you receive two magazines as you are suppose to when buying a new M&P.

I was in one our largest locally owned sporting goods stores Saturday when I noticed a cardboard box with loose spare M&P magazines in it. I thought it odd because S&W magazines normally come in S&W packaging not just the magazine as was the case with these in the box.

Only took a second to see what the deal was, the store had removed the second magazine that comes with each pistol and placed them in that box with a price tag of $29.95. The new pistols in the case were being sold with only one magazine.

SMITH & WESSON should pull ALL their product from ALL those stores and ban any sales through any of them. They should also tie them up in a gigantic law suit making sure ALL customers buying/bought S&W handguns to be reimbursed magazine wise AND $$$ wise too.

A couple of years ago I bought a 3rd. Generation S&W .45 from an online seller. In our correspondence, he mentioned that he was sending a second magazine with the gun.

When the shipment arrived I visited my local FFL, who is also a gun dealer, and there was only one magazine. I explained that the seller was sending two mags.

The FFL thought for a while then mumbled some comment about putting it in the safe and forgetting to take it out. He retrieved the magazine and gave it to me.

I hate to think ill of folks but the man acted like I had caught him in the act. I haven't used that FFL since.

Photography stores do the same **** and act like they are giving everyone such a great deal. And then sell you back all the stuff they took out of the box. I don't think the store should be doing that. I wouldn't hesitate to let them know I wouldn't be doing any more business with them. A lot of gun shops have an attitude they needed to stick their attitude where the sun don't shine. I would also notify S&W that I don't appreciate the vendors taking stuff out of the box and paying for once and selling it twice.

Local shop did the same thing as the OP described , back during the 1994 AWB . I was at the shop when the SIG Rep came in threatened to pull their account. They were doing it with EVERY pistol they sold.

Then reselling the mags at AWB prices after someone already paid for them. Greed pure and simple.

Nothing new. Century AK's leave the factory with 2 mags, but many of the large online sellers are selling the guns so close to cost because of the competition they keep a mag to help with the profit margin. With the price of hi cap mags this week, I'm sure it will happen more. GARY

This is also common issue with Glocks I would Smith and Wesson a call. I know with Glock if a dealer is found doing this and is authorized Glock dealer they can lose there authorization.

During the AWB Glock was even putting a decal on the box stating how many mags were shipped with each gun, and the mag capacity. It was printed in LARGE writing, sounds like something all manufacturers should do.

As others have said, this isn't limited to firearms. Many different dealers remove "extras" which are shipped with equipment, then sell them separately. SOME reduce the price accordingly, stating that not everyone wants or needs the extras. That may be, but you're right, we need to keep a close eye on it.

Those stores would no longer get my biz. There are other stores. And if I have to drive a bit I dont mind. Its all about customer service.

I'm going to be purchasing in Feb a M&P22,40c...every M&P hand gun has 2 mags?

When I was looking at the price @ Williams Gun sight, and getting a feel for the pistol the tag said the price and 1 mag on both pistols.

All the M&Ps I have seen come with two magazines. I currently own four full size - M&P40, M&P45, M&P9 and M&P9 Pro, all came with two magazines.

Some LEO special purchases come with three.

I do not know about the compact versions, I have never paid any attention to those in the stores.

ALL M&P handguns come with atleast two mags including "c" models (9c comes with a finger extension on one mag). The Shield (which has a 7 & 8 round mag with the 9). Some LEO models came with three. There was/is a model that comes with holster, mag holder and extra mag making that one three mags..

That is not only blatantly unethical, but arguably theft unless they adjust the price of the pistol down to reflect taking the mags out. I'd run it by S&W, complain to the manager, and avoid that place like the plague. If they will do something this sleazy, no telling what other slimy acts they'll engage in.
