Got these yesterday at the SCACA show.

This is an S-prefix M&P from 1948 or early '49.

This is a shooter grade,4-screw 17-0 from 1958. It has the optional bright blue finish as well.

Both are numbers matching, including the grips.

I don't know about those being the original grips, on the 2" gun.
I can see the grip frame showing on the left side. The grips look to
be the right style for that vintage, but don't appear to fit right.

Otherwise, they are nice-looking examples.

Hey Mike,I told the old fella (90) when I saw them that they looked TOO good. I was trying to talk him down by $25 bucks and told him I would give him $425 if the grips numbered,$400 if they didn't. HE says it will cost me $25 if he has to take 'em off. I said never mind and he said just give him the $400. Took 'em off as soon as I got home to check 'em. They number. S 966069. Grips, frame, bbl flat, cylinder and ejector star. I think the camera angle is throwin' you off. They fit like they are part of the frame. Run your finger over them and you can't tell where the wood stops and the steel begins.

Love the nickel M&P; $400 is a great price. I think that serial number and the single line address will put that gun in the first four months of 1948. The four-line addresses began to appear in May.

And I was too tired from "vacation" to go. I probably met him at the fairgrounds show a couple weeks ago. Bunch of nice old stuff, ran an big auction house in the Maryland, NJ area and moved down south. I bought a bunch of gold watches off him at the fairgrounds and was headed back for another load at the temple. Just too pooped to pop. Glad you got nice'uns.

Nice find F.T.I thought about going, talked about going, and forgot about going. I got burned out on the last two that I attended.

Well,y'all missed a good one! Especially if you were looking for affordable J-frames. I walked the show as usual and found no less than seven pieces that I was interested in enough to dicker. Couldn't get 'em all,but I like the two I got.
