Yesterday was a pretty good show. At least by my low standards. Our friend Bengals fan was a no show, but Dave was there. We had our normal spot along the front wall. Its good because we get to see a lot of the carry-ins before the rest of the show spots them.
As usual, the only thing I bought of any consequence was a 22 pistol. Don't even know why except I thought it was nice looking and cheap. A SIG 1911-22. I know nothing about the gun except it pleased me and looked well built. If any one knows anything about them, please chime in. Our friendly dentist from Louisville showed up for a while. He had a cool little 2 shot derringer (name unknown) with no serial so we assumed it was older than 1968. He sat down for a chat and put his gun out front on display. He had more "bites" than we did all day. Guess its a lesson on carrying in junk. We've got nothing left but junk to sell. Comes from years of gun showing.
People ask us why we bother with a table. Its because we get a place to sit and watch. We have a regular group of folks that stop and say hi. And I had a good sales day. Took in $65 whole dollars. Wow. but I did get rid of the remains of my ill advised foray into 22 magnum stuff. Some sucker bought all my 22 shot loads. He got a bargain I guess. And I sold a couple of sets of grips, way under priced. Not much profit after driving 80 miles, buying a drink and then lunch. But I had fun.
My table pard sold 2 beautiful 1940s era M&Ps. Probably the nicest condition guns at the show. He's picky and these are ones he bought some time back. Remember, even new guns aren't 100%, with many of them showing factory mistakes and others "shop wear". It kind of grates when someone talks about his new 100% gun. Bet I can find flaws if I look real hard. Often it doesn't take much to find them.
Even if last week was the huge Louisville show, we find an can buy or sell better stuff at this much smaller one.
