Gunsmith needed

I bought a stainless k frame 22 magnum cylinder and dimensionally is the same as my model 18-3 cylinder. I can't get it to work in my model 18. Anyone here willing to work on this for me?

Everything goes together fine, but the ejector rod seems a bit long and the gas ring hits the bottom of the barrel when the cylinder rotates into place. Diameter of cylinder measures the same and the length is the same. The 648 cylinder comes with everything except the crane. The ejector rod assembly is different than the model 18 cylinder. I will post pictures later tonight

Several of us have just done this very install. Read Cylinder Fitment and it will take you through the process. I did it to my pre-18.

If you can't , contact BMCM , he's here on the forum . The man is an extremely talented gunsmith . He's worked on 5-6 of mine .

It worked

Well after much reading here and thinking through the process several times, I got out the file and made this conversion work. First was the bottom of the barrel for the stainless cylinder gas ring to clear, then about .030 off the locking pin at the front. Cylinder dropped in and I got lucky with no ratchet cutting. It worked and cycled fine. I will take pictures tomorrow in daylight. Very happy and many thanks to all here who contributed to help me out. Not bad for a $13 stainless cylinder from gunbroker
