I'm planning on stopping at this show
this weekend on my way up to the mountains.
Is it a good one or is it all AK's,black guns
& overpriced ammo?
Thanks & regards,

This is an Eastman show, I believe, and you will see the usual contingent of vendors of AKs, over priced ammo, and various black rifles. There is a gentleman who is usually set up near the entrance with multiple tables. If you come in with a cased gun, he wants to know immediately, "What'cha got?" He always has some beautiful S&Ws that are marked way beyond my means. I mean he has some beautiful guns, though. I think he is also well-known for Browning shotguns. I sometimes see some good S&Ws at some of the smaller tables at the Eastman shows I attend, so there is always the chance. There are usually several large displays of new firearms.

There is usually a large Georgia Arms display, with plenty of their popular ammo. When I need lead bullets, I call them on Monday or Tuesday and order for the weekend show. (I attend the shows in Perry, GA and Macon, GA)

I have never been to the show at Gwinnett, but I assume there are a lot of the same folks that are set up at the shows I attend. Just like all shows, you can run up on a good deal, or you can strike out completely.

Thanks for the responses.I wasn't completely forthcoming-I was planning to go no matter what anyone said about it.A mediocre gun show is better than no show at all & you're right,redlevel-you never know what you'll find.
Thanks & regards,

I live about ten miles from there and I am not bothering to go. There is seldom something new or affordable at that show. Harvey Broome is the person redlevel is speaking of. There are some gunshops in north Georgia worth visiting, if you are headed toward Clayton.

Gun Show in Marietta, Ga

I noticed in the Marietta Daily Journal, a gun show will be at Jim Miller Park, this weekend (Nov 6-7).

Anyone planning to attend? I might be able to go on Sunday. Other commitiments keep me from attending on Saturday.

Thanks,
glen

Eastman's shows (everything about them) are overpriced and usually crowded. My best Ga gunshow adventures are the smaller shows, especially ones set up at a venue for the fist time.

Broome has nice stuff, and usually has it priced at retail. No steals, but he won't rip your head off either.

At one of Eastman's shows they tried to ban individual sales of firearms, they said if you want to sell, rent a table. Don't think anyone saluted when they ran this one up the pole, but it gives you an idea of the show's mindset.

Ditto on all the above

But, this is about as good as it gets for the North Georgia shows. And occasionally you run across some nice Smiths at individual tables. It varies, with even our forum owner occasionally having a table of nice guns. Worth going by, and the Ga. Arms booth is a good place to stock up on ammo.

They're usually pretty lackluster, and usually avoid if possible. However, I have "gone to see the varmint" and actually bought a piece at the last one I went to- albeit from a feller outside while leaving. :D

I tried to get my money back for the entrance fee, but they didn't accommodate me.
That was Gainesville, and maybe Gwinnett is better- can't possibly be worse.

I went yesterday and got some reloading supplies-357 lead, primers and WST powder. It seems that the prices are coming down a little, but the best deals on guns are at the RK shows. I understand a lot of the major gun dealers left Eastman because he wanted them to raise their prices because some of his other dealers complained.

So, how'd it go at the show?
About the same as it has in the last year- dealers singing the blues because money is tight.
There are WAY too many gun shows now. When you add in the burbs around Atlanta like Forest Park, Marietta, and Lawrenceville, and then add the towns close like Macon, Gainesville, Perry, etc, etc, there are what- 30? 40? more?? shows per year in GA. The promoters are killing their own game.
I did not see anything I could buy for resale.
Harvey, as always, had some nice guns.
It was, as always, a pleasure to see John.
