Had to Wait Too Long For a Shield???

Wow! I must have gotten lucky. I looked for one at 5 local gun shops and they all laughed and said join the list. So I figured I'd wait it out.

Then last Friday I went to a small indoor range to shoot and that sells only few weapons and they just got only 1 9mm Shield in and just put it in the case. So I jumped on it for $449. It is great so far and conceals much better than my 9c. Hopefully everyone will be able to get one soon! Good Luck!

Good things happen to good people.:D

Same thing happened to me, but my story had a bad ending! I was in an Academy Sporting Goods Store and I ask the sales guy behind the counter if they were getting any M&P Shields in? Another saleman over heard my question and said they just got one in this morning and have not even checked it in inventory yet! That was the good news, the bad news is I was in South Carolina and my concealed carry permit only allows handgun purchases in North Carolina, so I couldn't buy it. Academy also would not ship it to an arms dealer in NC, nor would they ship it to one of their stores in North Carolina. I at least got to touch it, but not buy it! Bummer! Oh well, I keep waiting!

What are you guys crying about, try living in mass 10 miles from where they are made , we and calf. had to wait til all the rest o```````f you got yours, then we got a slow trickle of ```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````shields

My issues with trying to get a Shield 9mm continues. Last night I got an email from a Charlotte gun store that they got one in and act fast if I wanted it. Needless to say I was pretty excited, and was ready to start the online purchase when I noticed their price was $200 over MSRP! As much as I want a Shield I feel that is a rip off and for general principals I am not going to buy the gun from this store. I will continue to wait until supply and demand are more in line, but will not buy one from this store. Just curious are others having this same issue?

Finally got a Shield 9mm

Gander Mountain opened up what they call a gun super store in Monroe, North Carolina this past weekend. I got there early and they had 70 Shields in stock. I purchased one and on Monday had Truglo night sights installed at my local gun shop. Love it! I have to say it, the gun is not recoil free, but I am sure that is mostly because of its smaller size. On a positive note, at 7 yards it is as accurate as any handgun that I've shot.

I waited too long.

Bought a Ruger LC9. Almost went with a Kahr CM9.

Sorry, S&W. If you don't put product on the table, then I don't spend my money on your guns. This "allocated" and "waiting list" garbage just means they lose money and miss opportunities for their shareholders. Sooner or later the gun companies will learn that.

What really disgusts me is that we have a poor economy, people want jobs, and the gun companies are the exact illustration of not hiring new people when needed. Instead of oohing and ahhing when Ruger said, "We stopped taking orders..." I began asking, "Then why don't you expand and give some people jobs?"

.

Expanding a manufacturing industry requires capital. Demand for handguns has hit the high mark as evident of gunbroker. Gone are the $700 Shields. You can now buy at auction a Shield in the mid $500 range. S&W is in the business to make money. Buying up more equipment is a long term commitment what we are experiencing today in terms of demand will not outlast the cost to expand.

Supply and demand boys & girls, supply and demand. You can speculate & postulate all you want, but me thinks Smith & Wesson is not losing ANY money. They DO make other guns you know!
