For those of you longing for a Spegel design boot grip like the UM's, here is a possibility. They have grips for a few different brands and looks like a K frame round butt Spegel grip is coming. Anybody tried them yet?

Pistol Forum guys and gals have a lengthy discussion, focused around the J Frame. There is an always active interest in the .32 and .38 Js there.

I am waiting myself for a supposed K Frame version. I have placed the high horn J and the funky looking NAA grips into a cart, but just didn’t feel like I knees them yet.

Not for me, but their recent Banana-style J Frame three finger grip might appeal to some dedicated Folk. J-Frame Gunfighter Grip - Hamre Forge Inc

Those look like a hard pass just based on what's up on the website:

1. Have not had good experiences in terms of durability, fit and feel with anything 3D printed that is firearms related.

2. "Built-in texturing". That could range from barely noticeable to cheese-grater. Which is it, and is it user-modifiable? My experience is that 3D printed - especially carbon-fiber reinforced - does not take to altering well.

3. The built-up right side stock does not appear to be a particularly good idea, in terms of interfering with trigger finger access/movement and being annoying... for a right-handed shooter.

4. Not a fan of any handgun stock that is hard as woodpecker lips.

5. The website is not showing the either the rear profile or butt view of the stocks, so no way of determining thickness, palm swell, etc... and especially if the butt is properly rounded or left in the more typically awful sawed-off square bottom

Sorry to be old-fashioned, but if I want a non-cushioning grip, give me genuine wood. Easily modified if necessary, isn't hard as a rock, nor stone cold in the winter.

I would have to handle these in person to be certain, but that's too many skins to waste on a potential stinker.

These are all good points @model 15-4ever.

There is a bit of a difference between my 3d printing and what you might have experience with. Our 3d printer is a similar technology to how the HUXWRX cans are being made, and the boosters on Elon's rockets.

The base material form is powder that gets heated up, and then a laser precisely melts powder in incremental layers to form an object. It's a very expensive and specialized form of manufacturing.

Regarding the texture, I haven't found anyone to complain about it. No one has asked for more, or less. It's generally described as "odd" or "different", but good. It's grippy in the hand, but not tacky. It's not as grabby on clothing as rubber.

As for the built up right side on our stocks, we love this design. 90% of the world is right handed, and the stock designers of old knew this. All the classic stock makers would build up the right side of the grip. Roper, Rogers, Fuzzy, Hogue, etc. you drop the name, and they built up the right side. We enjoy carrying on this tradition, but we also believe it does a good job of stabilizing the upper portion of the palm for shooting and providing surface contact to control the firearm.

I don't know how hard woodpecker lips are, so I can't rightly say whether our stocks are more or less hard than them. What I can say is they're about as hard as a hardwood, but not as hard as G10. They don't have a brittleness to them, and they have some inherent flexibility from a material perspective.

Here's a video we made for our Hamre Forge Spegel announcement - [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrVY5d0teRc[/ame]

You might be able to get some of the contour shots you're looking for in that video.

Thanks for starting this thread @Vtgw938, and to everyone who is interested in or uses our products, we thank you for your support and hope to provide you a good carrying experience :)

I have them for the Ruger LCR. Mine are the latest version of material from a couple weeks ago. The texture is nice and does not slip in the hand. Best of all it is MUCH less grabby on my shirt than the Ruger factory rubber. Grabs less than the factory J frame rubberish grips do.

One could complain they are not wood. But anything not wood is not wood. Also, hands are in all different sizes so some may find them not the best fit. Same with every grip made. I have Badger and Ahrends grips that do not work for me. But that is just me, not the grips fault.

Thank you for posting the video and providing the indepth information.

Call me intrigued and a big Spegel fan.

I can see a couple orders in my near future for a standard set and a hook belt clip set.

Thanks to the OP for bringing this new innovation to the Forum.

I have a set for my 638 and another for my 340 PD with the Hamr hook.
I really like them for my 638. The 340PD high horn grips are painful for me to shoot. The texture feels good, not clingy to clothing. The grips feel good in the hand. I have a set of Uncle Mike's Spegal 3 finger grips for the 340 PD, that also feel good in the hand for me and work better for me under recoil. Both with 38+p 158 grain LSWHP and the 340PD with mid range 357 hand load, that feel close to Gold Dot SBHP 135 grain 357 load. They point well for me, conceal in a pocket well and with the 638, I make good fast hits, they are keepers. I am putting the Uncle Mike's grips back on the 340PD.

I have been on Spegal's wait list for a while, so hopefully I'll be able to get some original grips from him someday.

I am looking forward to the K frame grips in particular. I have heard from the Hamr Forge people that a thin frame Model 12 grip is a possibility. I am especially looking forward to this since M12 grips are hard to come by.
