These are all good points @model 15-4ever.
There is a bit of a difference between my 3d printing and what you might have experience with. Our 3d printer is a similar technology to how the HUXWRX cans are being made, and the boosters on Elon's rockets.
The base material form is powder that gets heated up, and then a laser precisely melts powder in incremental layers to form an object. It's a very expensive and specialized form of manufacturing.
Regarding the texture, I haven't found anyone to complain about it. No one has asked for more, or less. It's generally described as "odd" or "different", but good. It's grippy in the hand, but not tacky. It's not as grabby on clothing as rubber.
As for the built up right side on our stocks, we love this design. 90% of the world is right handed, and the stock designers of old knew this. All the classic stock makers would build up the right side of the grip. Roper, Rogers, Fuzzy, Hogue, etc. you drop the name, and they built up the right side. We enjoy carrying on this tradition, but we also believe it does a good job of stabilizing the upper portion of the palm for shooting and providing surface contact to control the firearm.
I don't know how hard woodpecker lips are, so I can't rightly say whether our stocks are more or less hard than them. What I can say is they're about as hard as a hardwood, but not as hard as G10. They don't have a brittleness to them, and they have some inherent flexibility from a material perspective.
Here's a video we made for our Hamre Forge Spegel announcement - [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrVY5d0teRc[/ame]
You might be able to get some of the contour shots you're looking for in that video.
Thanks for starting this thread @Vtgw938, and to everyone who is interested in or uses our products, we thank you for your support and hope to provide you a good carrying experience
