Handguard for M&P-15 ORC Questions..

In the oppressed state of CT we dont get to have cool things like flash hiders or functioning collapsible stocks.

So i have an ORC rifle. I remember reading somewhere that free float quad rails wouldnt work on an ORC? Perhaps interfering with the gas block? Dont really remember, just remember reading they wouldnt fit right on without modification.

Is this true? and if so what needs to be done for a free float quad rail?

The height of the gas block may be an issue with the MP15OR as it is the same height as the receiver rail. However, I have no experience with the free float quad rails, but I did replace my handguards with Magpul MOE handguards and they are working fine with the MP15OR. I seem to recall some posts a month or two back where someone discussed the issues involved in installing a free float handgard on the MP15OR. You may have to replace the gas block, if I remember the posts correctly. Perhaps one of the fellows with a MP15OR who did this will chime in soon.
