Handguard Swap.

Ok so I tried to do a search for this, but for some reason I can't figure out how to filter the search properly. My question has two parts: 1. I want to put a Troy Bravo Battlerail on, it doesn't come with a barrel nut though. I ordered the Tacticool22 Free Float Handguard kit so do I also need to get a regular barrel nut or will there's work? 2. I can't figure out what length handguard is a rifle or carbine length. I measured the stock handguard and it's about 10 inches. I measured from the front of the stock flash suppresor back 6 inches, and there is about a half in gap between that and the stock handguard. The reason I am asking is because I also ordered a 6 inch barrel shroud and I want the aft end of it tucked inside the new handguard by about an inch or so. I was thinking the 9 inch Bravo handguard would get me to the look I want. The yes image is the look I'm going for and of course the no image is not. Any help would be appreciated. You will need to get a regular AR barrel nut to thread on Tacticool22's adapter to mount either a Troy Alpha (I think the Bravo also) or Samson Evo handguard. Other brands use a custom nut of their own. And you will need to turn it on tight with one of the notches straight up just like you had an AR gas tube in it so that their adapters will put the tube in the correct alignment. Just about the cheapest nut is the DPMS ($7.99 I think) and MidwayUSA got a new supply in last week as I was waiting for one for a Samson Evo install on my #2 15-22 when I got the notice they had arrived.
Carbine handguard length is 7-7.6" (real AR is 7")
Midlength is 9-11"
Rifle length is 12-15"
On my PC model with its 18" barrel I found that 13" was a good length. I think on my #2 with its 16" + muzzle brake that 11-12 is a good length (Samson makes one in 12.37" that might be a good one). Not sure about Troy, they were my #2 choice because my Stag 3G came with a Samson Evo.

You will need our modified adapter nut so the battle rail will go further back (closer to the face of the upper) and you will need to grind away most of the locating ribs to do that. Otherwise you will have nearly a 1/4 inch gap.
The gap is fine for some and unacceptable for others.
Our 6 inch shroud goes back 5 7/8 from the muzzle.
