Good morning all, I am looking to purchase a scope for handgun hunting deer. Please give Me your ideas on best manufacture and model. If anyone has one they want to sell PM Me.
Good Morning Yourself from Sunny Florida,
First what barrel length are you using and what caliber ?
I use a Nikon Red Dot Monarch on my 686-4 6" with Remington 357. I might suggest a Red Dot and i'm sure a lot of guys use them as well as scopes.

i use a aimpoint military grade m2 on my handguns i have set up for a scope i find it works great out to about 150 yards ..since i will not take a shot over a 100 yards mark with my handguns i use for hunting it does the job it does it job when to comes to hunting chores. i figure i will stay inside that range with them ..that my 2,cents
I have been doing some research for a scope for my 500 S&W. soon I will be ordering a burris fast fire. after e-mailing the company they have assured me that it will withstand the recoil and if I am not satisfied with it they will work to get me something I am satified with.
you might look up one of these and see if this might be what your wanting.
I have used a Leupold 2X on my 454 Casull and never had any problems. I did try a Burris 2-6X and the recoil broke the sight adjustment knobs (it was shifted forward - Burris did replace it free of charge). I went back to the Leupold with out any problems.
another reason why i prefer the red dot scopes over the regular scopes it the way some pistol recoil and how the recoil can break and crack inside the scope glass units ..
You CANNOT go wrong with a 2X Leupold! Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Have had one on my TC Contender in 30-30 for 24 years and have beat the heck outta it. Use SSK TSOB rings and it's never lost it's zero.
Bushnell 2-6 Trophy on the 627
Bushnell 2-6 Elite on the Ruger SBH
Have very good luck with both of them. Rugers integral scope rings work well

I just put a 2x leupold on my 6 inch 586 and offhand it seems to be really good to about 75 yards. With a rest I think that you could push things to 100.
Offhand I was getting like 4 inch groups at 75 yards. For some reason beyond that range I think that the lack of magnification was a psychological problem for me. This is probably due to the fact that I am used to 12 power scopes at 100 yards.
I have had the same 2x leupold on two .44 mags and one 375 winchester with many hundreds of full power loads in each. I have another that has been on several 22autos and a .38 spl. I use the double dovetail mounts from Leupold for everything. I am sold on the 2x Leupold.
