Happiest purchase?

By the title I mean the gun that you're really glad you decided to buy. The 64-3 I picked up last week is definitely a front runner for me. After another range session I can't remember having as much fun; it's accurate, has a great action, shoots to poa with both my favorite plinkers (130gr fmj) as well as defense loads (Gold Dots 135) and leaves me grinning.

Wow, very nice revolver you got there. I would be proud too!

Early 1970s. My 7th birthday. In our hometown of upstate NY, my Dad took me to a small LGS. It was my first time in a gun store. He said, 'pick one'. What a moment.

I picked a cheap plastic .22 knock-off of an AR-15. Thankfully, both my Dad and the gun store owner asked me to pick my 2nd favorite. It was a shiny, deep blue lever action; a Winchester 9422. I was taught carefully how to handle it and use the lever. Told by my Dad and the store owner that it was mine, but my Dad was to hand it to me until I was older.

$99 later, we headed home with the rifle and a box of Winchester-Western Wildcats.

I'll never forget that moment in the store, nor the many times Dad and I went plinking with it. My Dad, a WWII Veteran passed away decades ago. That 9422, pictured below, will always be the prize of my collection.

My first- a Model 41 purchased in 1998.
I had wanted to get a PL for many years. It's a bit of a hassle here in NY,but I finally went through the motions and got it.
I've owned quite a few other handguns since then, a variety of brands though mostly Smiths, and have sold most of them-the 41 is still here and is my favorite.

If I had to pick one, it would be my safe queen...

-m29-2
-4" bbl
-Factory Combats
-Factory Targets
-Box, docs, and cleaning rod

Just under $900 OTD from my LGS just about 2 years ago.

You would think I would get better pics of my queen....

Sometime about 1984 at a gun show in Northern VA. I had gotten interested in shooting PPC and bought a police trade-in Model 66 dash naught. A friend and I did a complete balance and blueprint job on it. A few years later it got a 6" barrel and spent some more time playing PPC, only to be put aside when I got interested in single shot rifles and then in Civil War Skirmishing. Finally, it got back in the game when events conspired for it to get a complete rebirth as Project 616. The same gun has been with me for nearly a third of my life now, changing and adapting to suit my wants and needs of the time. It doesn't get any better than that.

The revolver I'm glad I purchased (as opposed to letting go by) is my 60-15 3" .357.

I was teetering on letting it pass, because I couldn't really figure out what role it filled for me. I just knew it "called" to me for some reason.

That little gem gets alot of range time, and a surprising amount of holster time, too.

If you mean my "best" purchase-

My Hi-Power Practical for $395, like NIB!

I always wanted a k frame 8 3/8 barrel in .38. Found a good deal on 14-3. Its very easy to shoot well and I like it at the range.
Me too. I ran across one barely fired in the box with unopened tools and paperwork. Couldnt go home without it.

I really want a 64 bad.I love fixed sight guns.

I've been very happy with all of 'em but a couple stand out a bit...one is a 3" 586. It's not the PC version but rather a 3" standard 586. Not a ton of them around and when I saw it I had to have it! Been on a model 39 kick lately and very happy there as well.:)

Happiest purchase. Can I pick two

S&W M&P Shield in 9mm -- finally found a sweet EDC.

Ruger Single Six three screw in 22L, LR, and mag cylinder. DID NOT upgrade to transfer bar and that doubled the value of the 40 year old gun!

Nice choices.

I have my fathers old 3 Screw SS. I would have to look at my list but its from the 1950's. Dad was the 2nd owner. The 1st worked the trigger down to dangerous, one could actually touch the side of the trigger and it would fire. That light trigger that made it accurate also was dangerous. While he still had it I contacted Ruger and they sent me a box, Dad said no. After Dad went into dementia and beyond we had to remove the guns from the house. I sent it to Ruger.

It is now safe, which is the most important issue and Ruger also returned the original parts. They are still in the box. When I give the pistol to my son I will pitch the original lock work. Sons and grandsons are much more valuable.

Your parents took you to buy your first handgun? Man some kids have all the luck!

LOL....I paid for it, but because I was under 21, even though I had a PP at 18, my old man had to sign for it, so I could "borrow" it until I turned 21. CT has since raised the age for a PP issue to 21. Heck, back in those days we could drink and smoke too at 18.

I've had many happy purchases.

As I got closer to retirement I wanted to replace some that I had let get away from me in my youth.

Found three Pythons before they went sky high, a cased 29-2, a 19-3 nickel, a couple of 1911's, a pre 27, a 27-2 in 3.5" (side note some how I let it get away from me, stupid, I felt like kissing Cleopatra's Asp) Luckily I found a nicer one for less money.

All of those made me very happy, I was able to regain the guns of my youth but alas I did not find my youth. I did not want 3 Pythons but you would be shocked at what I gave for them. I later turned 2 to pay for most of the items above.

My 27-1 5 incher . Or my 27-2 3.5 incher . Or my 28-2 4 incher . Or my
nickel 29-2 6 incher . Or my pre-18 . Or my pre-17 . Or my pre-15 . Or my 14-2 . Or my M&P one liner . Or my....Or my....They all make me smile . Nothing beats that surprise of finding a good one . Walked into the LGS one morning . Went to get a box of 9mm for the range . I spied a clean M39 9mm for $350.00 . Box and all . Turns out to be a pre-39. Short safety lever . Worth about 3x that . Grin all the way home . Love the hunt .......
