Curtis his Ownself.
Only ever saw him one time.
After he was retired, down at Eglin AFB, FL.
In the O Club, having breakfast with the Two Star Commander.

Spent the first 12 years of my life on one AF base or another while Dad served. While he was in Vietnam we stayed with his parents in Ma. He left the service when he returned. He's 90 and lives in N.H. Growing up with other service kids was different than civilian life. I didn't serve but it did mold me differently. Dad in country circa 1969 and his sidearm.

Best chow and chipped beef in the Galaxy.
Only downside were the Aero Clubs P51s not in service,
so we had to fly Pipers.
Life is cruel. :D

Can you still fit into your Blues?
Dad's Division is obvious and they carried Old Glory in silk.
4017th CCTS, flying red chili pepper.

My Dad was AAC as a B-17 pilot and was there when they became the USAF. He retired as an 0-6 in 1968. My son, LtC, A-10 pilot retires in January. The whole Air Force thing skipped a generation in our family, as I retired from the Army in 2000.

Dad in training in Brady, TX.(2nd from the right) He would have been 100 years old last Friday. What a guy.

The Colorado Dude who saw Elmer shoot the Eagle is a Retired USAF Warrant Officer.
He started in the Walking Army. Old China Hand, he was in the last Army Unit we had in China just prior to War Two.
They were transferred to the Philippines prior to Pearl Harbor.
On Dec 7 He had already been rotated back to the States.
Later promoted to Warrant and became AF.
I wish I could recall his name!

I had the honor of meeting the widow of a man who flew with the American Volunteer Group. He later flew in Korea and was a high up pilot with Air America in SEA. The 75th Fighter Squadron (A-10's) is the direct descendant of the AVG, Flying Tigers. The nice lady gave me one of his hats.
