Happy Birthday to the United States Navy. For 238 years since October 13, 1775 you have diligently and relentlessly protected our nation in peacetime and at war. To all who serve/have served, thank you so much for your dedication and service. You make America proud.

Congratulations to all the men/women that wore and presently wear the uniform.

Time to party, as if a sailor ever needed a reason to party.;)

Blessed are they that go down to the sea in ships and do business on the great water---
Hear us Father when we plea for, those in peril on the sea---
Here's to all my shipmates who have gone before, I miss you all.

Happy Birthday! I remember the saying, "The US Navy, 238 years of tradition unhampered by progress!"

I'll raise a glass tonight to all former, present, and future shipmates!

Well as long as we're posting Navy sayings or sayings ABOUT the Navy I offer this'n. I've been reluctant to post it lest it cause dissension amongst the branches. We all know it ain't true and is meant in a humorous vein....Right? RIIIIGHT. :D
"The Marines do the work, the Army get the credit, and the Navy....sure looks GOOD! ;)

Happy Birthday Navy!
From the days of the USS Constitution to the present day USS New York, we're still the same sailors that went to sea.
"Blue of the Seven Seas, Gold of the Sun,
Let these our colors be Till all of time be done-n-be,
By Severn shore we learn Navy's stern call:
Faith, courage, service true
With honor over honor over all!"
HOOYAH NAVY!

I was fortunate enough to serve aboard the USS. Saint Paul (CA73) A heavy armored Cruiser.
She was launched in 1944 and was present in Tokyo Bay
for the signing of surrender by the Imperial Japanese Forces.
When I served aboard as a Quartermaster 3rd, she was the Flagship of the 7th fleet.
The Saint Paul was active throughout the Korean "conflict"
and acted as a deadly accurate floating gun platform in Viet Nam.

Her 9" naval rifles were still considered to be a major threat to the enemy.

The movies "In Harms Way" and the "Longest Day"
featured many scenes of her, both on board and at sea.

I'd do it all over again without a thought !

I've never had a beef with other branches of service.
Happy Birthday, Navy!!
All you Navy types are expected to go out and
do something totally irresponsible tonight.
