Happy Birthday United States Air Force

My son was Army. His only problem with The United States Air Force is they think they own the color Blue! He was never allowed to sigh any of their paperwork with a blue ink pen!

Dad served in the ETO with the US Army as a combat mechanic with the Third Herd. When the call went out that the newly forming Air Force needed reciprocating engine whisperers he was serving with the Army Air Force. They allowed him to transfer over taking his rank and TIG with him.

He got in on the ground floor. He retired in 1966.

I was about to get drafted in 1971, so I joined AFROTC to finish my degree. By the time I was commissioned in May 1973, the draft and the war were for the most part over. I went to USAF Pilot Training in 1973 and, long story short, made the Air Force a long-time career serving 14 years active duty, 19 years in the Air Force Reserve as a full-time Air Reserve Technician, and 11 years as civililan Flight Simulator Instructor. I finally called it quits in 2018. Happy Birthday, USAF.:)
