Yes. Today is the longest day of the year. Summer officially began a few minutes before my original post this morning.
We just need less summer storms and more heat waves. Been raining for the last 2 days out here.

I am the retired kid that stays outside most of everyday irreguardless of the weather. Don't like being cooped up inside.

I hope you get your wish. The summer can't be short enough, far as I'm concerned.
95 degrees. 78% and higher humidity, and we aren't even on the coast. Dew point of 73.
Down here, we call this Air You Can Wear.
My electric bill will probably hit $250 for this month, and July and August are waiting to take more of my money.

I have pleasant visions of December, January, and February. It is, unfortunately, only the first day of summer. More of this to come, I'm afraid.

Down under the seasons start at the beginning of the months of March, June, September and December. Actually in practice it is out by several weeks. Summer and winter should be closer to four months in length making it April, June, October and December, but what do I know, I’m no meteorologist.
What I do know is that the last week in September/first week in October it suddenly gets warm, grass starts growing (ex dairy farmer in my youth) and life looks good again. And while March is slightly cooler than early -mid February it is still great BBQ and boating weather with long warm evenings.
As yesterday was the shortest day of the year here summer is now officially on the way, even though it will take another 6 weeks at my latitude for there to be any noticeable change. Still the thought warmed my heart walking to the station yesterday morning with my hands in my coat pocket due to the chill in the air.

Not much better "up here"...we've had a number of days with dewpoints of 70 (the magic number where it becomes yucky feeling). I actually get physically ill from the combination of heat and humidity. I can take "dry heat" all day, but add the steam and I have trouble breathing and I sweat profusely. Despite relatively cool temps and almost 3 inches of rain today, I got sick this afternoon because of dehydration. I just guzzled down a quart of San Pellegrino...and the light headedness and anxiety went away pronto. Going to drink some ice water next. Like I said...I can't wait for Old Man Winter

I am a warm weather person and am glad summer is here. A few cold weather days during the Texas deer season is all the winter I need or want!

We have a short growing season here in the UP. We have had temps 90s for highs, and 100% humity already this month, We also in the same week had a wild fire warning with no burning including camp fires then 4 inches of rain in 24 hours. I enjoy the mornings and evening sitting in my back yard, in the morning I watch the sun rise and the flowers open with my coffee and in the evening I watch the sun sit and the flower close up while sipping a glass on bourbon. come November the chill sits in and I have to sit in front of the window.
Can'y beat the weather here for summer. The people here don't know what high humidity is or what the native blood sucker of N.J. is. There are no mosquitoes here to speck of. Now the winter's can be a little tough.

I was a super intelligent kid when I was around 10 years old. I first realized that adults are not that smart when I asked if June 21 the sun is at the highest point, why is that not the middle of Summer? Also, December 21 the sun is at the lowest point in the sky, why is that not the middle of Winter? All I got was dumb looks from adults who until then, had super powers. I kept digging, and I found out that the coldest day of the year is in early January, only a short time after Winter officially began. Finally, I found out that the official start of the seasons are scientifically wrong. Astronomical mid-points for each season occur when the seasons officially start. Meteorological start of each season is delayed a few days from astronomical start, due to the heat storage effect of the oceans. So, how long is each season? Winter and Summer are four months long, Spring and fall are two months long, astronomically and meteorologically. Astronomically? Yes. The mid point of the solar angle between December 21 and March 21 is not halfway between Dec 21 and March 21. That is February 21, when the sun is at the quarter point. Because, this function is a Sine function. Look at a sine wave graph: one -third of the way to the right on the X axis is halfway up on the Y axis.
Meteorologically? List all 365 days of the year. Note each days' daily high, or daily average temperature. Rank each daily temperature. You will find that the 25% highest temperatures occur during 120 days, and the 25% lowest temperatures occur in 120 days, while the second quartile temperatures occur in only 60 days; same for the third quartile.
