I have a Regulation Police and occasionally, when firing in single action, I get a very hard trigger pull. When pulling the trigger back it moves freely, and the cylinder rotates smoothly, but about once in ten or eleven shots the trigger pull is very hard. It is not always the same spot in the cylinder either. I have tried several brands of ammo and is makes no difference. The sear and the trigger look ok to me. Any ideas what to try next?

Thanks in advance.

I had that experience today, turned out it was someone else's reloads that caused the problem. Everyonce in awhile I would not be able to cock the hammer. The cause was a primer not fully seated. Did not matter which revolver I used (three), same problem. I was concerned because I was trying, for the first time, a revolver that I put together. I thought it might be lack of cylinder gap, which you should check.

Problem solved! I think. Today at the range I pulled back the hammer and when I pulled the trigger nothing happened. The hammer freely rotated. When I got home I found the hammer spring had snapped close to the top. Once i find a replacement I will see it that solved the other problem too.
