Hate Glock!!! Want my M&P9

So my Dept makes us all carry the .40 caliber Glock 22. I have never liked it since the day it was given to me. Don't get me wrong it has never failed me but I have never liked the way it shoots or feels in my hand. Now that I have shot and own M&P's I am spoiled. I can shoot my M&P far more accurately and just love the feel of it. I recently also read an article in a magazine talking about how Dept's issue Officers sidearms for reasons like "So everyone has the same gun", "If I need ammo we can share", "We all know how it functions" etc etc ect. Well the author said this is a poor policy due to the differences in Officers. Well I proved it at the range this week. We qualified and there are some Officers who just barely pass each time. I handed these Officers my M&P and they improved dramatically. So in my opinion I think having a choice is a healthy one. I would rather have a good shooting Officer next to me then an ok shooting one. Just my little rant for the evening.

Maybe you can take a poll of fellow officers on what they prefer. Maybe if you get enough on your side and there is room on the budget....you never know.

Ya, I never agreed with this Position. Case in point, The NYPD issues three (3) different 9mm pistols. Glock, Sig and the S&W, SO its possible that your partner may NOT have the same weapon as you. So the idea of swapping out mags during a gun fight is not happeneing.

Couldn't agree with you more

Before i retired i answered a call of a shooting and to my horror it was a 14yr veteran from anoter department. His life ended accidently with his service piece which was a Glock.
Two weeks later our department changed over to Glocks and although i was no perfect shooter i couldn't pass the qualification because of my aprehension about the gun itself. After retiring i went to a S&W 9 auto and had no problems becoming immediately comfortable with the gun.

Funny thing is 5yrs later i listened to a friend of many years who talked me into a Glock 27 40 Cal. Once again i was never comfortable carrying that gun and only took it out of the box twice per year to qualify to keep up my permit to carry. About 6 months ago i sold that Glock and went to the new 9MM S&W SHIELD, and picked up a S&W 380 BODYGUARD. Again total comfort shooting both guns. I did however invest in the NP3+ finish from Robar Co which makes that gun look even better then it is. I guess once a Smith man always one.

I actually sold my MP9 and bought a G19 and later a 17. I still have a MP45 but debating on trading for a G21.

Their safeties are the same in the sense that the owner has to keep his bugger hook off the trigger!

I have an M&P full and a gen4 glock 19. I love the size of the glock and the trigger but hate how wide it feels at the web of my hand. The m&p just feels so much more comfortable. But on the other hand I detest my m&ps trigger even after an apex & ram were installed.

My M&P40 has a grip angle that I prefer. Not that I couldn't adapt to the Glock angle (I shoot them fine after 200 rounds) but aesthetically, the Glock doesn't do it for me. The M&P feels "right" in my hand whether its a two hands thumbs forward IPSC grip or single handed.
